ONE SMALL STEP FOR GEEZ: BAYC Member Dr. DaveCoin Sends His GeezOnApe To Space!Find Out More About ApeChain’s First Astronaut.

That’s one small step for Geez, one giant leap for ApeChain!

Everyone in the ApeCoin ecosystem knows the vibes, Geez on top. But did you know that one of these “5,555 lovably dim-witted 3D gorillas” was literally on top of the world last month as part of a space mission that was anything but Mickey Mouse!

On Wednesday, longtime Bored Ape Yacht Club member and GeezOnApe holder Dr. DaveCoin revealed that he recently sent his astronaut suited GeezOnApe primate named Ron to space through a company called Crunch Labs as part of their “Space Selfie Project.”

Ron’s mission was simple, go to space, become top Geez, and get the photo to prove it. Mission accomplished!

 

“It feels amazing to get Ron into space,” Dr DaveCoin told the Gazette. “My gold gee, orange background space cowboy! But more than that I’m proud to have achieved this first for ApeChain, to put it on the intergalactic map and as importantly, to have done this for Rida and the team and showcased them (Geez on Ape) as the first collection to have reached space for ApeChain and the first NFT ever to have been captured actually in the vacuum of space orbiting the earth! It felt like the perfect fit.”

 

Getting Ron into orbit had been a dream of Dr. DaveCoin’s ever since he minted the primate in November 2024.

“when I revealed this gold space cowboy grail I said right there I had to find a way to get him into space for real,” Dr DaveCoin told the Gazette.

 

At the time, the mission seemed impossible. But that changed in March 2025, when he and his son watched a video of Crunch Labs founder Mark Rober discussing the Space Selfie Project, and decided to ape in.

“Ron was approved and up he went,” Dr DaveCoin said. “Transmitted to the satellite orbiting the Earth! Got confirmation in June that the photo had been taken and received the final image today!”

 

Ron now joins a very exclusive club of NFTs that have gone to space and an even smaller group that have been photographed in orbit. In fact, Ron is the first NFT ever actaully photographd in space, orbiting roughly 500 kilometers above Earth, which is the same altitude as the International Space Station. Simply put, Geez are literally on top.

“To see that beautiful orange bg and that gold grill smiling back in his space suit and cowboy hat because we are tactile people, we want to physically see dope shit. And dope shit it is.”

 

Following Dr. DaveCoin’s announcement, Apes and $Apes flooded the timeline, welcoming Ron back to Earth and congratulating him on a job well done!
