The Pudgy Party’s over, but you don’t have to waddle home!

Ten months after Pudgy Penguins and Web3 game developer Mythical launched Pudgy Party, a mobile multiplayer game featuring an assortment of the brand’s popular penguins, the team announced that the game is entering maintenance mode.

“Today, we are making the decision to wind down Pudgy Party and halt further development,” Pudgy Penguins announced on Friday. “We are incredibly proud of what Pudgy Party achieved: launching at #1 on the App Store, building a large daily player community, reaching over 1 million downloads, and most importantly, helping spread the Pudgy Penguins IP far and wide. Pudgy Party and its community created so many special moments we will always cherish.”

But fear not, fans and fellow flippers. While Pudgy Party is shutting down, members of the Huddle and frens around the world are invited to waddle over to The Berg and check out Pudgy World, the project's browser based metaverse that looks and feels a lot like the classic Club Penguin games of the early 2000s.

“Its scalability, storytelling potential, and ability to introduce people to the full Pudgy Penguins universe are on an entirely different level,” Pudgy Penguins wrote. “Pudgy World continues to grow rapidly, delivers one of the most fun and novel web experiences out there, and being wholly ours, has everything we need to make it the flagship gaming product of the Pudgy Penguins universe.”

As the Gazette previously reported, Pudgy World opened in March as a desktop based game, inviting everyone to explore 12 towns across The Berg, help Pengu find Polly, catch fish, and pelt friends with snowballs.

Following the news, members of the Pudgy Penguins community took to the timeline and said that while they were sad to see Pudgy Party come to an end, they were bullish on the brand’s decision to refocus around the more popular and all encompassing Pudgy World.

“Some are seeing this news as negative, but I see it as a smart, calculated business decision by the Pudgy Penguins team,” Tinoz.Eth tweeted. “Projects need to operate as a business and prioritise on revenue-generating initiatives. Their decision to sunset Pudgy Party to double down on Pudgy World is what i would expect from a leading project like Pudgy Penguins. I would put my money on a team that knows how to prioritise business survival than one that does jack shit over 4 years any day.”

Tonight, everyone from the swamp to the igloo and beyond is invited to check out Pudgy World here: https://www.pudgyworld.com

The Gazette will continue to follow all things Pudgy Penguins and will let you know what the brand does next in the gaming space. Stay tuned for updates!
