Another NBA player has aped into the Bored Ape Yacht Club.
Philadelphia 76ers Forward, Tobias Harris joined the BAYC yesterday and changed his profile photo to Bored Ape #2160.
After the basketball player changed his profile photo he tweeted several eye emojis, tagged the BAYC twitter account and hash tagged the tweet #Apefollowape and #NFT.
After Harris did this, the BAYC community was quick to welcome him into the club.
“Welcome to the Bored Ape Yacht Club Fam, BAYC member Just1n. Eth tweeted. “Great to have another straight baller in the club! You just joined an amazing community!”
Harris’ bored ape is Bored Ape #2160. Bored Ape #2160 is a six trait brown fur ape with a stunt jacket and a sushi chef headband.
While many bored apes and NFT enthusiast were thrilled to see that Harris joined the BAYC, some of basketball fans were not impressed. “This might be worse than the Kawhi shot,” Twitter user Justin Anderson Fan Account tweeted in response.
While some fans may not share Harris’ enthusiasm for NFTs, Harris told the BAYC and the community not to label them “haters.” “We can’t label “uneducated” as “haters,” he tweeted.
Many in the NFT community agreed with Harris’ sentiment and hope that NBA player like him joining the community will help educate the masses. “This is the right mindset,” BAYC member JBond tweeted. “We need to educate people about NFTs. Glad you’re all a bored with us.”
Harris isn’t the only 76er in the BAYC. As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the teams Basketball Operations President, Daryl Morey, aped into the club back in June.
While Harris is new to the BAYC, he is not new to the NFT community. Prior to joining the BAYC Harris held a rare Sappy Seal and five Cyber Hornets Colony Club NFTs.
