Hours before the #3 Texas Longhorns took the field at the Big House to face off against the #10 Michigan Wolverines, CryptoPunk holder GoBlue.eth was on campus with a massive sign featuring his police cap-wearing CryptoPunk, CryptoPunk #8834.
GoBlue was ready to brave the crowds and weather to get his Punk some airtime and possibly sell the J-Peg to someone watching for 69 ETH, or $158,700 USD!
“I arrived at 8am but realized the wind was so strong that I had to go back and get creative with some gorilla tape to bind the two posters together,” GoBlue told the Gazette. “So, walking to gameday was the funniest part. Everyone was looking at me like, 'What kinda freaky stuff is 69 E T H?' Got a good laugh out of that one. A couple of students actually knew exactly what NFTs were, but most people just looked, didn't understand, and kept pronouncing ETH letter by letter.”
As the College Gameday crew went live, viewers could clearly see GoBlue’s CryptoPunk sign waving in the heavy wind just to Nick Saban’s left.
“Was looking to sell my Punk, so thought it was a perfect opportunity to do a different kinda of marketing that might get someone attention,” GoBlue said.
Since the Punk’s appearance on Gameday, GoBlue told the Gazette that he’s received a few offers from fellow Punks and thinks he could make a deal next week.
Today’s appearance on College Gameday wasn’t GoBlue’s first college debut. As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, he also got his Punk on air during Michigan’s rivalry game against Ohio State last year.
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow Yuga Labs NFTs and will let you know where they pop up next. Stay tuned for updates!
