You may not be able to teach an old dog new tricks, but this artist proved you can take an OG NFT collection like CryptoPunks, reimagine them as pups, take over the timeline, and even get featured in Beeple’s Everydays pieces!
On Saturday, crypto artist Sheipi’s Beeple and CryptoPunks inspired Regular Punks project launched and minted out; which is a major achievement in today’s down bad NFT market!
“THANK YOU FOR TRUSTING US,” Shepi tweeted. “This isn’t the end, there’s still a game to deliver. But for today, we rest and enjoy the moment.”
Tonight, there’s a lot to enjoy for Regular Punks. Not only is the project trading above mint price, but the Web3 community is also posting their doggos all across the timeline.
Beeple even made the collection the subject of his two latest Everyday works!
“REALLY DANGEROUS / TESTOSTERONE COATED,” he tweeted along with a photos of some Regualr Punks dog fighting.
“Do you really want me to die,” Shepi tweeted in response to Beeple’s post. “Releasing a collection and getting a Beeple piece on the same day, on this little sleep.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Sheipi’s Regular Punks was inspired by Beeple’s robotic billionaire dog exhibit at Art Basel, dubbed “Regular Animals.” The installation featured figures like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg running around taking photos and literally shitting digital collectibles and prints.
“At first, I thought it would be hilarious to recreate the dogs in pixel art, and when I thought about which face to stamp on them, Punks was the first and most obvious choice,” Shepi previously told the paper.
Remember, Regular Punks are not your regular PFP, according to Sheipi. Looking ahead, the artist plans to launch a Regular Punks dog fighting game where the Punk pups will put up their dukes and battle!
