Aesthetics and rarity are back in style onchain as one of the space’s rarest Ape type CryptoPunks quietly changed hands in a private deal!
On Tuesday, longtime CryptoPunks collector OldSchoolCollection sold CryptoPunk #5795 to an anonymous collector via notable art dealer Eli Scheinman’s new platform, CanonPunks.

“Grateful to place Punk 5795 in a new collection today,” Scheinman tweeted. “One of 24 Apes.”
CryptoPunk #5795 is a one attribute Ape type Punk wearing a police cap and is ranked as the 18th rarest CryptoPunk in the entire collection, according to OpenSea data.

While we do not know what the mysterious buyer paid for the Punk, we do know that PunksOTC purchased another Ape-type CryptoPunk from BeautyAndPunk for 720 ETH, or roughly $2.6 million USD, back in August 2025.
Over the counter trades are becoming an increasingly important part of the NFT landscape. As the Gazette previously reported, Yuga Labs recently launched its GrailsOTC trading desk with the goal of facilitating deals involving some of the rarest and most aesthetic primates that rarely ever change hands.
Scheinman’s new platform is doing something similar for Punks. On CanonPunks, CryptoPunk holders can discreetly list their Punks off market while buyers are invited to take a quiz to help them find their forever PFP or next investment opportunity.

“New Punk collectors are looking for specific traits and combinations, not just any Punk,” Scheinman wrote on April 27th. “But over 6,000 Punks sit in wallets that haven't used the marketplace in 12+ months. These Punks are effectively invisible to collectors because public listing doesn't reflect the nuances of how owners actually think about selling. Canon Punks adds private listings and open-to-offers, letting owners signal availability without committing to a public price. For collectors, this means a wider pool and better odds of finding a Punk they love. Loved Punks are more likely to be held long-term. Built on the Node API. A portion of fees will go to the Node Foundation.”
