Ready. Set. Rip!
On Thursday, local card shops from the U.S. to Asia were catching a vibe as collectors ripped into Orange Cap Games' latest Vibes TCG set, Birbs & Pengu.
The new set consists of nearly 200 cards that pay homage to memes, popular culture, and Web3 ethos while featuring frens from across the timeline.
“I got a very cool card for my penguin,” Pudgy Penguin Community member and Vibes TCG model ST. McFly told the Gazette. “It's a common rarity card too, so I know lots of people will collect it. It's called Lil Balanced and the art is by Chlorophilly. It's a half skeleton/half penguin beautiful piece and I cannot wait to get it in person. Vibes is a great TCG.”
As hundreds of holders get ready for their cardboard close ups, and collectors everywhere get ready to add some new cards to their decks, today's release further strengthens the thesis that Orange Cap Games founder and Moonbirds CEO Spencer has previously shared: intellectual property is one of crypto's most compelling use cases.
“The reason NFTs will win in the long run is because IP development is an actual use case for crypto,” Spencer tweeted on April 27th. “Many other things in the space will fail because they are over financialized and don’t solve a real problem. Defi fails when the risk outweighs the yeild. NFTs can only fail if the IP becomes irrelevant. North Korea can increase the risk of your defi protocol, but it cannot dilute the relevance of your IP. Lesson there.”
As collectors around the world crack open their Vibes TCG packs, both Pudgy Penguins and Moonbirds are teasing that "something is happening" tomorrow.
