From pixel art on the bathroom walls of the Bored Ape Yacht Club in 2021 to a boring blast of a third person shooter built atop Otherside in 2025, Yuga Labs’ always on metaverse rollout is continuing right where it all began, in the bathroom, with the launch of Command Line’s Bathroom Blitz later this week!

After bubbling up and hanging out with their frens on Otherside all weekend in the metaverse’s first persistent, always-on state, everyone will be teaming up, and shrinking down, inside the BAYC bathroom to shoot it out. And everyone’s invited to ape in!

“Stoked to finally start letting some community members get an early quick chance at a playing Bathroom Blitz, and can’t wait to open the doors to everyone next week,” Command Line Founder and BAYC Member CryptoVonDoom told the Gazette.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Bathroom Blitz is an 8v8 team deathmatch style game inspired by a sketch from Yuga Labs Co-Founders Garga and Gordon Goner.

The game was developed by BAYC member CryptoVonDoom’s Command Line team using Yuga Labs’ Otherside Development Kit, which is the same tools every Otherdeed holder will soon have access to.

“You are the size of a toy soldier and you’re in the BAYC’s bathroom,” Garga said back in March . "There is shit everywhere and you got a sniper rifle. You can pick up an AK-47, you can grapple up on the walls. It’s a small team Shooter. Its fun and kind of an homage to the days of counterstrike, kitchen rats game, and other toy solider mods that have come out for different shooters over the years. Whenever we test it internally or with your team its always a  ton of fun.”

Bathroom Blitz’s launch will serve as a proof of concept for Yuga Labs’ vision of a user generated content driven metaverse, one that Garga recently called a “Roblox killer powered by ApeCoin.”

“As we’ve been developing Otherside we’ve been focused on the ODK for people to build on the platform and ship,” Garga previously said. “We are strong believers that modding and UGC is the biggest unlock for gaming and that Web3 rails make a whole lot more sense than Web2 will ever be able to do.”

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow all things Otherside and will let you know when and how everyone can ape into Bathroom Blitz later this week. Stay tuned for updates!
