SUI SOMETHING: Sui Foundation Managing Director Christian Thompson Purchases His First CryptoPunk for $229K USD!

Something Sui-per happened in the Yugaverse today after Sui Foundation Managing Director Christian Thompson changed his profile photo to a CryptoPunk!

Whether you’re building on Ethereum, Solana, an L2, or a Layer 1 like Sui, CryptoPunks are provenance and they transcend chains! On Friday, Thompson purchased his first ever Punk, CryptoPunk #2892, for 125 ETH or $229,000 USD.

 

“Yes, I lead the finest Layer 1, Sui,” Thompson tweeted after his pick up. “Yes, I just acquired a CryptoPunk. Some symbols transcend chains—culture, history, identity. Proud to represent Punk #638 while building the next version of the internet.”

 

 

CryptoPunk #2892 is a three-attribute male punk with a normal beard, a top hat, and VR goggles. According to Magic Eden, it ranks as the 2,176th rarest in the entire collection.

 

After Thompson joined the Punks community, his friend Raoul Pal, who has repped a CryptoPunk as his PFP for a while and has been bullish on Bored Apes and NFTs for years, congradulated him on his first Punk!
