Three and a half years after the Otherside mint, and four months after the always on Swamp invited everyone into the world for the first time, crypto gaming changed forever.

The timeline transformed into the metaverse today as everyone aped into the Koda homeworld of Nexus and experienced the next iteration of Otherside; getting a glimpse of what’s possible, an onchain, eve -changing world where anyone can build and win!
Upon arrival, players were greeted with the original Otherside teaser trailer from March 2022, featuring the Club’s mascot Curtis, Blue the Koda, and some familiar faces from the WAGMI days of Web3.

From there, players entered the Swamp or at least what was left of it. A storm raged between the two energies of Otherside, Soma and Chaos, creating a massive vortex that was sucking everything into it, even the beloved Bored Ape Yacht Club, in a Wizard of Oz like moment!

Players then teamed up with Curtis and Blue to save the day and ended up on Nexus. But before they went on their way, Curtis told them, “Go. Explore. Otherside’s yours now,” not just sending them off into this strange new world but also signaling a new day for Web3 gaming.

“Watching the @OthersideMeta story develop is amazing,” BAYC Member Md Codes tweeted. “This feels like a massive leap forward. The visuals, sound design, interactions are all incredible. Wish I could re-experience that intro cinematic for the first time !”
Once the gameplay began, players were in awe. This wasn’t a reskin of the Otherside Swamp with some Koda flair, it was a sight to behold. On the Nexus, users looked down a long walkway toward a massive Koda Temple, flanked by giant Koda statues on both sides, and saw portals to different parts of this new world on their left and right.

Not only was there a lot to explore (we’ll cover more in a future article), but there was also a ton to do. From mini games that let players speed run up buildings and through obstacle courses, to daily tasks, experience points, and collectible badges, this reporter, like many others, spent hours just jumping around, chatting, and experiencing everything the world had to offer.
As Apes aped in, Yuga Labs CEO Garga took to the timeline to invite anyone and everyone to check out Otherside.
“If you've never visited Otherside, give it a try today,” he said. “ You don't need an NFT or anything to play: http://Otherside.xyz”
Following the launch, the Otherside’s largest landowner and entrepreneur Adam Weitsman nearly gave everyone a heart attack with a trollish post about his first thoughts on this next chapter of the metaverse, as he congratulated the Yuga Labs team on a job well done.
“Kinda feel played and deceived tonight by @yugalabs in regards to the @OthersideMeta launch today. I have invested alot with them and think I deserve straight answers when I ask questions on projects since I have been a vocal supporter and large investor in their company. At Apefest I asked @CryptoGarga and @GordonGoner to their face about Nexus and they looked me direct in the eyes and said don’t worry it would be good. Never once did they say it was going to be THIS GOOD. It’s absolutely incredible. It’s at a level not seen before in Web 3 history. @mfiggeyou crushed it brother. You just cemented your legacy as one of the BEST of all time. Could not be more proud of you family and the entire Yuga team”
Looking ahead, the ApeCoin and Yuga Labs teams have a busy week planned on the Nexus for all of us beginning with tomorrow’s Meet at the Clubhouse Space and guided bubble tour at 8 P.M. EST, a Lore & Order event on Friday at 1 P.M. EST, Other Games on Saturday at 3 P.M. EST, and Project Runway: Nexus on Sunday at 3 P.M. EST.
