Waabam Is Running For Special Council. Here's Why He Deserves Your Vote:

Things are anything but boring around the swamp as ApeCoin DAO Contributors make their ways to the polls and vote for their preferred candidates in the community’s second ever election season.

After a month of Twitter Spaces, interviews, and politicking, it’s time for the $Ape community to cast their coins for Yat Siu and Alexis Ohanian’s replacements on the DAO’s Special Council.

As the Bored Ape Gazette has previously reported, the role of a Special Council member is not explicitly defined, but outgoing Special Council member, Siu, gave the community a good idea of the position and its responsibilities in a May 7th Twitter thread.

“The role of the Special Council is to act as stewards of @apecoin its purpose to serve the $Ape community with a mission to be the layer for community-led initiatives that drive culture forward into the #open #metaverse #web3, Siu tweeted. “The Special Council members role is that of a steward, we serve the community, we are not operators, there is no CEO, we are servants to the @apecoinDAO community.”

With Siu’s thread in mind, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to each of the DAO’s five Special Council candidates and asked them why they’re the right $Ape for the job.

Check out the Gazette’s interview with Waabam below:

1.In a sentence or two what’s your final pitch on why $Apes should vote for you?

“I am passionate about ApeCoin, I have a deep and thorough understanding of the DAO, and I have a unique skillset to bring to Special Council to help use ensure that $Ape achieves its potential of becoming the coin of metaverse culture and blockchain gaming.”

2. What does success and what does failure look like for the DAO?

“Success, in one year: We have hired a professional marketing and communications team to create an onboarding and growth strategy; we have implemented a solution to return revenue to the DAO and are creating sustainability in DAO operations; we have partnerships with blockchain gaming companies and brands wishing to gain a foothold in the metaverse, bringing new use cases for $Ape, with many more in the pipeline. Success, in five years: $Ape is everywhere. It is the in-game currency of every major blockchain game. It is a base token for every major metaverse experience. People are able to earn $Ape in play-to-earn games, and then use $Ape to pay for incredible metaverse experiences with family and friends, or cash it out for real-world money.

Failure, in one year: We still do not have a comprehensive onboarding and growth strategy. We are still relying entirely on Yuga Labs to deliver use cases for $Ape. We are not closer to sustainability of our treasury. Failure, in five years: $Ape has not become the coin of metaverse culture and blockchain gaming. It is many used by Yuga Labs only.”

3. What community or ecosystem in crypto do you really like (besides BAYC/ Yuga Labs) and what does that community have that ApeCoin is missing?

“Ethereum. I like the comparison to Ethereum because it is the base layer for blockchain computing, and the vision for ApeCoin is to become the base layer for metaverse experiences and blockchain gaming. In my view, the main advantage Ethereum has over ApeCoin is that it has a many year’s head start on ApeCoin. We are in the early days of ApeCoin. So, we are missing the infrastructure, we are missing the use cases, we are missing the community growth. But we will build it.”

4. Assuming you couldn’t vote for yourself, who would you vote for and why?

"Captain Trippy, because of his track record of engagement in the DAO, and his years of experience running a business and making difficult decisions that affect other people."

5. What other DAO’s do you admire and why?

“I admire Nouns DAO because of its ability to grow its treasury and its creation of the Prop House as an efficient grant making function operating on chain. There are aspects of the Nouns DAO Prop House that I think ApeCoin DAO could learn from and replicate.”

6. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?

“I'm passionate about ApeCoin and excited to build this DAO with the community. I believe that Special Council members should be in constant communication with community members, so that they understand the priorities and concerns of the community and can take actions to address them. My DMs are open to all community members.”

The window to vote in the ApeCoin DAO’s Special Council election closes tonight at 9 P.M. EST.

The Bored Ape Gazette is working to bring you a final interview with each of the candidates and will continue to follow the ApeCoin DAO’s second election season. Stay tuned for updates!
