“WHAT IF WE JUST LEAVE IT ON?”: Yuga Labs’ Documentary Year One: Persistent Otherside Premieres On YouTube!

From the big screen in Otherside to the small screen on YouTube.

Following the packed out premiere of Year One: Persistent Otherside earlier this month at the Starfield Gallery in the Nexus, Yuga Labs’ first ever mini documentary is now available on YouTube, and everyone’s invited to check it out.

 

 

The film follows the earliest days of the always-on Otherside, starting with the fact that July 24, 2025, wasn’t supposed to be the beginning of a persistent world at all!

“What if we just leave it on,” Yuga Labs CEO Michael Figge asks in the opening moments of the film.

It was a simple question that would ultimately change the trajectory of Otherside.

The film features interviews with Figge, IllaDaProducer, members of the Other Games team, and frens from around the swamp as they look back at why Yuga Labs decided to keep Otherside open and everything that happened next. Spoiler it was a lot!

 

What began with Apes and Voyager Robots roaming around the swamp has since grown into a much larger persistent metaverse featuring two worlds, countless avatars, seasonal events, games, and more!
