"What Is A Bored Ape" Was An Answer On Last Night's Episode Of Jeopardy!
“What is a Bored Ape” has been the alpha since April 2021 and was a $2,000 answer on Wednesday night’s episode of Jeopardy!
The BAYC made its first-ever appearance on America’s longest-running game show, Jeopardy, last night, as the answer to a $2,000 question in the category “NFTs & IPOs.
In the episode, the game’s most prominent player and now host, Ken Jennings, read the $2,000 question to returning champion Aiden Orzech, and it was anything but boring.
“At Sotheby’s in 2021, a set of 100+ of these blasé creatures’ NFTs went for $24.4 million simians... I mean, simoleons,” Jennings said.
Orzech responded, “What are Apes?” before clarifying, “What are Bored Apes!”
"NFT CULTURE on JEOPARDY TODAY", BAYC member Sincere tweeted along with the clip. “They are Bored Apes. Yes.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Sotheby’s sold a lot of 101 Bored Apes for $24,393,000 on September 9, 2021, as part of its “Ape In” auction.
This sale marked the first time a Bored Ape was sold at one of the traditional auction houses. Since then, several Apes have been bought and sold via Sotheby’s and Christie’s over the years.
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow the BAYC and the Yugaverse as it apes into mainstream culture and will let you know where Bored Apes pop up next. Stay tuned for updates!
