From weighing their options to weighting the odds.

On Monday, Yuga Labs CEO Michael Figge announced that he and the team will be rolling out an all new weighted raffle system designed to give collectors and longterm holders a better chance at getting in on limited edition drops and mints, starting with the club's highly anticipated cigar collaboration with Scandinavian Tobacco Group.

“In an effort for OGs to get preferential access to limited drops we're going to put weights on this raffle,” Figge tweeted. “What you hold should matter, and hold time should matter.”

As the Gazette previously reported, talk of rewarding longtime holders and collectors has been a topic of conversation around the swamp for years. Recently, the team rolled out a collector score for the Daniel Arsham Otherside Voyager mint that gave Voyagers who played the game and dedicated collectors additional chances to win the raffle, which the community loved!

Tonight, we do not know exactly how the club's weighted raffle system will work for the upcoming Scandinavian Tobacco Group cigar drop or future releases beyond it. But we do know that it will run on Glyph and be able to account for any transfers community members have made to and from their vaults over the years.

“We'll do this by having people sign in with their glyph wallet for the raffle - more on this in the next few days- but kinda like the arsham drop this is more complicated so we might have to ship top of next week,” he said. “It'll be productized so we can do this for future limited drops collectors collect bored ape yacht club.”

The Gazette will continue to follow the BAYC's new weighted raffle system and will let you know when and how you can get ready for the Scandinavian Tobacco Group cigar drop, as well as future limited releases, when more information becomes available. Stay tuned for updates!
