"A BORED APE IS ART": Michael Saylor's Past Comment Kicked Off A New Copy Pasta Trend Around The Swamp

You don’t have to take the thousands of Bored Ape Yacht Club members’ word for it—“a Bored Ape is art,” according to Bitcoin Giga Chad and MicroStrategy founder Michael Saylor!

Things were anything but boring around the swamp today after Bored Ape Yacht Club member Dim.Eth shared a clip from a June 2, 2024, episode of Graham Stephan’s The Iced Coffee Hour, titled "Bitcoin to $1,000,000!

 In the clip, Saylor stated that “a Bored Ape is art” during a conversation about whether it’s too late to buy Bitcoin.

 

In the full clip, Stephan asked Saylor whether it’s too late to get into Bitcoin. He then invited the Bitcoin maxi to share his thoughts on how Bitcoin compares to a Bored Ape. Saylor acknowledged that Apes are art but emphasized that Bitcoin is universal.

“A Bored Ape is art,” he said. “ I’m not an art investor but the millennials would want the Bored Ape more than they’d want the Picasso right? When you’re buying into art there is the question of the community and the cultural reference. There is very scarce desirable Japanese art that has no value to a Russian. And there is scare desirable Chineese art, and there is scarce desirable western European art, and modern art. Of course the people who love classic art hate modern art. But people who love modern art don’t want to own classic art. Art is a segmented market of assets and collectibles. They’re all interesting but the point is there is a thousand of those markets.”

 

Following Dim’s tweet, BAYC members flooded the timeline with images of their Bored Apes alongside Saylor’s quote: “A Bored Ape is art.”
