Take me out to the Candy drop!
Friday will be Opening Day of sorts for sports and entertainment collectibles company Candy, which is set to release its all new 2026 MLB Base Series ICONS on Solana at 1 P.M. EST. And everyone's invited to step up to the plate and take a swing at landing a pack!
In total, 500 packs of Candy's 2026 MLB Base Series ICONS will be available for $10 each and feature 100 of baseball's biggest names across a variety of rare parallels, including stars like Mike Trout, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and more.

“100 of baseball's biggest names, established stars, breakout rookies, and the rising talent everyone's watching all in one collection,” Candy wrote. “Chase down Rainbow Variant ICONs across all five colors, complete your Set and Rainbow Quests, and build your collection from the ground up.”

Friday's drop isn't just another mint happening somewhere in Web3. It's the culmination of nearly four months of work by Tad Smith and his team, marking Candy's first official at bat under its new ownership.

As the Gazette previously reported, Smith, who previously served as CEO of Sotheby's and currently serves as Chairman of Doodles, first revealed plans to acquire Candy Digital back in March 2026 before officially completing the acquisition in May with the goal of revitalizing the platform and pushing digital collectibles forward.
Since then, Smith and his team have brought the platform back after years offline, migrated it to Solana, and teased that "summer will be sweet" for Candy. Now, with its first release under Smith, the company is finally ready to step into the batter's box.
