Animoca Brands Chairman Yat Siu Confirmed That The Wreck League Mech Mint Will Only Be In $Ape

As the Yugaverse and the broader web3 ecosystem prepare for battle in Wreck League, Animoca Brands Chairman, Yat Siu, confirmed that the game’s upcoming Mech mint will be exclusively in $Ape.

Things have been anything but boring around the swamp this week as Animoca Brands and NWayPlay revealed Wreck League, a player vs. player fighting game that’s powered by ApeCoin!

“Welcome to Wreck League, an entirely new project that marks the next chapter in the evolution of fighting games, competitive gaming, and esports,” the game tweeted from its WreckLeagueHQ account. “We're building a AAA-quality game we want to showcase the first look on announcement day.”

Earlier today, a Discord message circulated around the community that made it seem that multiple cryptocurrencies could be used to mint a Wreck League Mech later this month.

The Bored Ape Gazette saw this post and reached out to Animoca Brands Chairman, Yat Siu, who told the paper that $Ape will be the only payment option.

“It's in $Ape only,” Siu reiterated to the Gazette. “Maybe they confused it with the web2 purchases, but the NFT sales are definitely in ApeCoin.”

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the Wreck League game is made up on two parts, a Web2 and a Web3 version. In order to participate in the Web3 version and mint a Mech, users must sign up for the game’s allow list and submit a KYC here: https://allowlist.wreckleague.xyz

Being on the Allow list will give whitelisted wallets the oppurnintiy to mint a Wreck League Mech later this month, according to the game’s website.

At the time of this article’s publication, it is unclear when exactly the first mint will take place, but it is scheduled for later this month, according to the game’s roadmap.

Along with Wreck League’s upcoming mint that users must KYC for, the game is also doing a free Mech claim for Yuga Labs NFT holders.

During this claim, Yuga Labs NFT holders will not need to complete a KYC to get their Yugaverse exclusive mechs!

“For the free claim for holding Yuga nfts, you don't need to worry about KYC,” NWay’ s Marketing Director Justin wrote in the game’s Discord. “But there will be a rarity boost when purchasing boxes for having a koda in mint 1. You can reach out to support to revoke your first kyc to re add it if you would like. https://support.nwayplay.com/hc/en-us/requests/new (edited).”

Yuga Labs’ Social Lead, NgbShpend, further clarified that the Wreck League mint and the Wreck League claim for Yuga Labs asset holders are different.

“The claim and first mint are different,” he tweeted. “All claims do not require kyc. The mint is for a different mech and mech bonuses/pieces that you use to create other mechs. the claim mechs come as whole mechs and cannot be broken apart.”

These claimable ‘Yugaverse Mechs’ will be available to Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Bored Ape Kennel Club, and Otherside Koda holders, according to Animoca Brands.

“Players within the @yugalabs ecosystem of @BoredApeYC , Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Bored Ape Kennel Club, and Otherside Kodas will be able to utilize rare Yugaverse Mechs to enhance their gameplay, adding an element of exclusivity to their in-game achievements,” the company tweeted.

The Bored Ape Gazette is working to bring you continued coverage of Wreck League and will keep you posted on the game’s free claim for Yuga Labs NFT holders. Stay tuned for updates!
