Animoca Brands' Yat Siu Teased A Wreck League Tournament With NFT Prizes Up For Grabs!

As the Web3 community readies their engines for Animoca Brands’ Wreck League video game, Animoca Brands chairman, Yat Siu, said that he’s interested in challenging the community to a Mech battle with prizes up for grabs!

A battle is brewing in the extended Yugaverse, and the Bored Ape Yacht Club community, along with the extended Web3 space, are invited to mint a mech and prepare for battle in Animoca Brands and NWayPlays’ Player vs Plater fighting game, Wreck League!

“Welcome to Wreck League, an entirely new project that marks the next chapter in the evolution of fighting games, competitive gaming, and esports,” the game tweeted from its WreckLeagueHQ account. “We're building a AAA-quality game we want to showcase the first look on announcement day.”

As the Web3 space signs up for the game’s allow list and completes the required KYC, Animoca Brands’ chairman, Yat Siu. Said that he’s interested in hosting a Wreck League tournament to kick off the fighting game.

“I am seriously considering doing a personal prize pool of valuable #NFTs for a special @WreckLeagueHQ@apecoin competition against me and/or a team I will select,” Siu tweeted on Friday. RT and comment and with enough interest I will prepare a special personal custom event around this incredible fighting game built in partnership with @nWayGames @animocabrands @yugalabs using $APE #Web3 #Web3Gaming #blockchain.”

“I haven't played I'll be training but I know what the gameplay is like and it'll be fun,” Siu told the Gazette when asked how much he’s played Wreck League so far.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the Wreck League game is made up on two parts, a Web2 and a Web3 version. In order to participate in the Web3 version and mint a Mech, users must sign up for the game’s allow list and submit a KYC here: https://allowlist.wreckleague.xyz

Being on the Allow list will give whitelisted wallets the oppurnintiy to mint a Wreck League Mech later this month, according to the game’s website.

At this time, we do not know how much it will cost to mint a Mech, but we do know that the mint will be exclusively in $Ape. “It's in $Ape only,” Siu told the Gazette.

At the time of this article’s publication, it is unclear when exactly the first mint will take place, but it is scheduled for later this month, according to the game’s roadmap.

Along with Wreck League’s upcoming mint that users must KYC for, the game is also doing a free Mech claim for Yuga Labs NFT holders.

During this claim, Yuga Labs NFT holders will not need to complete a KYC to get their Yugaverse exclusive mechs!

“For the free claim for holding Yuga nfts, you don't need to worry about KYC,” NWay’ s Marketing Director Justin wrote in the game’s Discord. “But there will be a rarity boost when purchasing boxes for having a koda in mint 1. You can reach out to support to revoke your first kyc to re add it if you would like. https://support.nwayplay.com/hc/en-us/requests/new (edited).”

These claimable ‘Yugaverse Mechs’ will be available to Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Bored Ape Kennel Club, and Otherside Koda holders, according to Animoca Brands.

The Bored Ape Gazette is working to bring you continued coverage of Wreck League and will keep you posted on Siu’s tournament and will let you know how you can enter once he releases more details. Stay tuned for updates!
