If trading in the trenches is the modern day Colosseum, then Bored Ape Yacht Club member Koko is the ape in the arena.

While many Apes know him as the founder of ApeChurch, Koko has also spent years navigating crypto's ever changing memecoin markets.

No matter the chain or the meta, if tokens are running, chances are Koko is somewhere deep in the trenches searching for rugged projects that could make a comeback, memorable characters that might take over the timeline, and, most importantly, communities willing to work for their bags.

Recently, Koko took his onchain trading to the social platform FOMO, where he quickly climbed into the app's leaderboard after  he found his latest conviction play Cate the Cat, a memecoin that checked all the boxes he looks for in a project.

“Never imagined I would be In the top 10 so fast,” he told the Gazette. “The cto lead @PoorGoat_ is on his main character arc and onboarding retail at an amazing rate because he has the top follower count on fomo. The narrative is so simple, The cat version of doge. This coin reminds me of early Shiba Inu days and the community is infectious and growing rapidly I think it’s moving very different than your typical coin. These are the ones that can go to insane heights and basically start to snowball bigger than people can imagine.”

Since talking to the Gazette earlier this week, Cate has pulled back but Koko is still believes this cat has claws.

“I never made it in this game by having weak hands,” he tweeted.  “I’m not gonna start now.”

As Koko continues climbing FOMO's leaderboards and bagworking for Cate, he left the Gazette with a few words of wisdom for anyone looking to enter the arena.

“Advice for newcomers would be to go small at first learn how to read the room and look for coins that have big social energy surrounding them,” he said. “Definitely don’t put in more than you can afford to loose and make sure you stay locked in to the people leading the project. Most of all have fun!”

The Gazette will continue to follow Koko, whether he's building on ApeChain or trading in the trenches. Stay tuned for updates!
