The Ape Foundation’s CEO Cameron Kates is now the ‘HeadOfApe’ on X and he just shared his first update since taking the helm!

On Friday, five weeks after former Yuga Labs lawyer Cameron Kates was announced as the Ape Foundation’s first ever CEO, he took to the timeline with a new X account and a list of updates on all things $Ape, plus some personal news: he just had a daughter!

“The first few weeks were getting back to the basics,” Kates wrote. “We focused on overhauling operations - going from a community to commercial operation - and deepening ties with OGs and newcomers to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly. If we haven’t chatted yet, let’s get in touch. New badges are on the timeline and we want to know everyone. “Community” isn’t worth shit if we don’t actually build and benefit from network effect. 100 guys can’t take on a gorilla, but a gorilla shouldn’t fight alone anyway.”

In his first ever post, Kates announced that next week will be a busy one in the ApeChain ecosystem. Special Council elections are set to begin Monday, and the Ape Foundation will also release its second Transparency Report later that week.

Along with those two major updates, Kates shared that the ApeCoin DAO will transition to on-chain governance next month.

This process, laid out in AIP-582, includes an all new eight phase process that lasts 27–37 days. It requires community support, temperature checks, KYC requirements, and contract negotiations before reaching a DAO-wide vote.

Kates ended his update with a personal milestone and the why behind his work.

“On a personal note, I had a daughter last week, “he wrote. “The entire Ape team, led by  @Waabam_eth and  @wonk1m stepped up. We’ve got killers that live/ breathe for this. And not to get too deep, but having a kid really cuts out the noise. I’m building for her generation.”

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Kates was officially announced as the Ape Foundation’s first CEO on March 28th, 2025.

Shortly after the announcement, Kates joined BAYC members Chris Jourdan and Steve Bark on Coffee with Captain, where he shared his vision for ApeCoin and didn’t hold back.

“I want to fucking win so badly," Kates said at the time. "I want $APE to win. I’ve been here from the start from the literal earliest days. I remember where I was when ApeCoin dropped and the role I had the chance to play. I just want $Ape to win. I want the $APE ecosystem to win. That’s honestly why I’m stepping in. We know there’s a lot of work ahead, and anyone out there who’s got big ideas, anyone who wants to win, you will have my phone number. You will have my Telegram. You can find me anywhere. I will take the call. I’m not backing down from this.”
