There may be pain in the night be joy comes in the Mutant!

Bored Ape Yacht Club member Ernest Lee reunites fellow Ape Brongis with his Mutant after it was stolen in a phishing attack, proving that the BAYC is the best club on the internet because of its members!

Friday began as one of the worst days in Bored Ape Yacht Club member Brongis’ life. He was phished.

“I got hacked, I got drained and I got stolen all the accounts I had,” he tweeted. “I know that it was my fault, I know that I could have done better, but still I lost around 10/15k$ in asset’s value on all chains and mostly, all of them had a HUGE meaning for me, because I worked my a*s off to earn them!”

Losing money and assets you’ve worked hard for is bad enough, but the pain hit even harder because Brongis lost the PFP he’d been rocking since March 30th,  his Ape, Mutant Ape #27576.

“I was drained in all senses and I made a post to say everyone that I got back my account but that I wanted to live this space for good,” he told the Gazette. “After this a lot of people started to texting me and to supporting me under the post and privately, everywhere!”

After his post, the BAYC rallying cry Apes together strong came to life in a big way. BAYC member Moonlyght began collecting donations from his frens around the swamp to buy Brongis’ Ape back.

But then something amazing happend. As Moonlyght’s crowdfund began, BAYC member Ernest Lee saw what happened and decided to ape in and purchase Brongis’ Mutant himself, proving that Apes together strong is more than just a saying!

“I had a meeting with Brongis a couple of months back and appreciate everything that he brings to the community,” Ernest told the Gazette. “Although I have not had a wallet hacked, thanks in large part to @nft_dreww and others providing active security to my computers, I did have my Twitter (X) profile hacked not too long ago and know what it feels like to feel vulnerable that way. End of the day, I just did not want to see the community lose such a valuable asset as Brongis.”

Ernest bought the Mutant Ape for 1.85 ETH or about $8,200 USD and has since reunited it with Brongis, who’s now keeping it safely in a cold wallet.

“Ok, this time the  @BoredApeYC goes straight into the vault,” Brongis tweeted. “Locked into the ledger! Once again thanks to  @ernestleedotcomfor everything, also for the call brother…it was something I really needed . Waiting you in Italy, it’s the less I can do for you! Love you, brother.”

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow Ernest and Brongis and will let you know what these two Apes do next. Stay tuned for updates!
