The world’s first and only B(ored)MW is officially in the paws of a primate after longtime Bored Ape Yacht Club member and CryptoTickerIo founder Weidner Dennis got the keys to the ApeCar, a ride made for and by Apes!

Nearly a year after Yuga Labs, BAYC member Rida, and luxury automaker BMW teamed up to create the ultimate driving machine for Apes, the Bored Bimmer finally has an owner, BAYC member Dennis.
“Apecar Handover – a day to remember,” he tweeted earlier today. “Honored to be invited by BMW at BMW Welt to receive the keys to a piece of history.”
The ApeCar is a one of a kind BMW M235 Gran Coupe with a custom paint job designed by Rida, voted on by the BAYC community, and outfitted with Ape themed features.
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Yuga Labs and BMW first unveiled the ApeCar at ApeFest 2024, where attendees could place a fully refundable $2,350 pre-order for the chance to win the right to purchase this one-of-a-kind vehicle for $99,000 USD.
After receiving the keys, Dennis took the ApeCar for a spin around the BMW Welt Museum in Munich, sharing his “first drive” on the timeline.
“From the raffle deposit of $2,350 after ApeFest in October 2024 to today’s handover, it’s been almost a year – and I couldn’t be happier that we managed to bring the BMW Apecar to Germany,” Dennis told the Gazette. “Driving it through the premium handover space at BMW Welt in Munich was truly a wonderful moment. BMW put a lot of craftsmanship and detail into the car, and you can really feel it.”

Dennis noted that the road to ApeCar ownership wasn’t always smooth, throughout the year long journey there were communication problems along the way, but today’s handover made it all worth it. He added that he plans to display the ApeCar as a piece of art.
“Right now, we’re planning to use it as a show and art car,” he said. “Since the ApeCar was originally commissioned by Yuga Labs as a US variant, unfortunately, it cannot be registered or driven publicly on German roads. Originally, another Ape holder was meant to receive the car with his Ape integrated, but after he stepped back and no further budget was provided, the Ape was removed and replaced with a BMW logo… For now, I’m just overjoyed that the German Apes are getting the spotlight they deserve and that I had the chance to bring the ApeCar to Germany."
