BAYC CoFounder Gordon Goner Thanked The Space For The Love and Support After His Health Announcement

Bored Ape Yacht Club Co-Founder Gordon Goner thanked the NFT space for the love and support that he has received since he announced that he would be taking a leave of absence from Yuga Labs to focus on his health.

“Was overwhelmed by the love and support over the last 24 hours”, Goner tweeted this afternoon. “Thank you for all your faith in me these past two years. Going to focus everything I have on healing. Much love.”

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Goner informed the community yesterday that he had been diagnosed with congestive heart failure.

“Some heavy news,” Goner tweeted. “A few days ago I was told by my doctor I have congestive heart failure. Symptoms started last year out of the blue and I put off seeking help (like an idiot) so I could keep working. But after testing, my doctor called and asked me to radically change my life. Firstly: my symptoms are still mild. Stairs wind me. I can’t play with my dog or exercise. I can go on walks, travel, and live a mostly normal life. But the condition is progressing pretty fast and that means I need to make some serious changes.”

One of the serious changes that Goner must make is taking a leave of absence form the company he co-created to focus on getting better.

“What’s next, Goner tweeted. “I’ll stay on as a board member and strategic advisor. My confidence in Yuga’s future and @Cryptogarga’s leadership are unwavering. Daniel Alegre (@dalegre) soon joining only makes me more bullish. While I won’t be on the frontlines for a while, I'm incredibly excited for what the Yuga family has coming this year. Not a lot of people outside the space know the extent of what we as a community have done here. I’m proud of everything we’ve achieved and believe Yuga’s impact on web3 is just beginning. All love, Wylie.”

Following Goners’ post, the BAYC and the NFT community at large took to social media to thank the co-founder for the immense impact that he has had on the Web3 space.

“Sending our thoughts and support to @GordonGoner and his family during this difficult time," Pixel Vault tweeted. “We stand with you and wish you a speedy recovery.”

As many shared words of support and encouragement on social media, BAYC member Nifty Tailor created a new “GET WELL GORDO” hoodie for Apes and Mutants to pay homage to Goner!

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow Goner and his health. Stay tuned for updates!
