'BIG HUGS': Gordon Goner Gave The Web3 World An Update On His Health

Yuga Labs Co-Founder Gordon Goner took to the timeline today to give big hugs to his web3 friends and share an update on his health and his 'two steps forward, one step back' recovery.

Nearly 18 months after Gordon Goner, whose real name is Wylie Aronow, announced that he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and would be stepping away from the company he co-founded, he took to Twitter to give the community a TLDR and a longer version report on his health.

“TLDR: Haven’t been feeling too good lately and don’t like bringing those vibes here while I figure my health shit out,” he tweeted. “I check in with @cryptogarga every week and I’m excited for all the crazy shit he’s been working on. Proud of the whole Yuga team and very stoked for the second half of this year.”

In the longer update, Goner explained that he received several rounds of mesenchymal stem cell treatments over the last year, which have helped a lot with his heart but have taken a toll on his immune system.

“So that’s where I’m at," he wrote. “Two steps forward, one step back. My heart is in great shape for now and if I had to do it all over again, I think I would still have taken the cells and all the other crazy stuff I’ve implemented. Life was almost not worth living when the heart failure symptoms were at their worst. Now I’m much more alive and hopeful, just in pretty frequent pain with fevers, having a lot of bowel issues, and dealing with the slow degeneration of my digestive tract. But I’ve dealt with this on and off for 20 years, so it’s not something I’m not used to, and if I have to deal with it for another 20, I will. I’m going to find a way out of this, and get back to doing what I love, which is building weird shit for my degenerate friends on the internet and making fun of Garga relentlessly. Wish I could be like NFT Jesus and come back with the launch of something insane that would reignite some energy into the space (I certainly have ideas) but for now that’s gotta be someone else. I think a lot of teams, Yuga especially, are cooking up that insane shit without me, and I’m genuinely excited for what’s to come this year. Big hugs to everyone. Sorry for the wall of text.”

 

Following Goner’s post, BAYC members and the broader Web3 ecosystem filled the timeline with well wishes.
