The Moonbirds left the Yuga Labs nest on Friday, but they won’t be migrating too far from the $Ape community and they'll still be taking flight to Otherside!

The Birb was the word across the timeline after Yuga Labs announced that the Moonbirds, Mythics, and Oddities collections had been acquired by Orange Cap Games, a real world IP creating company that previously launched a Pudgy Penguins card game and is being incubated by prolific Web3 investor and Spencer Ventures owner, Spencer.
“At Orange Cap Games, our mission is to bring beloved IPs to life through carefully crafted experiences that introduce them to new fans and deepen the connection with existing communities,” the Orange Cap Games team wrote in an X article. “Today, we’re thrilled to share that OCG is acquiring Moonbirds, Mythics, & Oddities from Yuga Labs. We are excited to take the reins (or should we say wings) of Moonbirds and write the next chapter of one of the most storied franchises in the on-chain (and sometimes in-chain) world. Moonbirds have simply been nesting during the bear market, filled with untapped possibility, and under our stewardship, it is now time to take flight.”
Looking ahead, Spencer and the Orange Cap Games team plan to integrate the Moonbirds, Mythics, and Oddities into their existing card game universe, while also having conversations with community members and potential partners about what’s next.
“Spencer and the team at Orange Cap Games are among the smartest, most detail-oriented builders in consumer crypto,” Yuga Labs CEO Garga tweeted after the deal. “They put love, genuine craft, and a fair bit of neurotic perfectionism in everything they touch (ask @spencer to tell you about him flying to Asia to make sure the printer got the gloss just right for the holos in their trading card game). They created an incredible trading card game, with real physical distribution and a scalable digital platform, and it's got a great mix of casual and hardcore fans. And they've done it all without owning their own NFT IP. That changes today with their acquisition of the Moonbirds IP. Moonbirds deserve a team whose whole world is the birds, and there's no one better than Orange Cap Games to help them reach their potential. As for Yuga, we're laser-focused on Apes, Otherside, and something special we've been cooking up.”
As the Moonbirds spread their wings for their next adventure, they’ll still be a familiar face in the Yugaverse. The Moonbirds’ Otherside-ready 3D models are still in the works, which means they’ll be breaking on through to the Otherside with Voyagers and their frens around the swamp later this year.
