CLUCK AROUND AND FIND OUT: 0xQuit's Abstract Chickens Can Now Hatch And Flee The Coop Ahead Of The Abstract's Shutdown!

It's time to cluck around and find out!

On Wednesday, Yuga Labs VP of Blockchain 0xQuit put on his farmer's hat and announced that Abstract Chicken holders can now hatch their eggs, meet their birds and get the flock off the soon to close Abstract blockchain!

“The bridge is OPEN,” he tweeted. “When you exit, the site will ask you to input a wallet to receive the chicken (and eth payout). Make sure you do NOT input an AGW. Anything sent to an AGW on ETH is lost forever.”

As the Gazette previously reported, Abstract Chickens started out as a silly idea for an onchain game of chicken following Igloo Inc.'s announcement in early October that it would be shutting down Abstract on December 15th.

Days later, Abstract Chickens became a reality, inviting everyone from longtime Abstract users to NFT collectors to gather around the coop and participate in one final onchain experiment before the blockchain's chickens come home to roost!

The game is simple but the stakes are high. Collectors minted eggs on Abstract for 0.01 ETH each and must decide when to flee the coop by bridging their eggs to Ethereum. The longer they cluck around on the chain, the more they can win.

“Later exits receive bigger payouts,” 0xQuit tweeted last month.  “Anybody who does not exit before the chain closes forfeits both their NFT and ETH to the coop. The last chicken to successfully exit gets half of that forfeited pot, the other half is distributed to everybody that successfully exited (weighted by exit order).”

But be warned: The bridge could close sooner than anyone expects, according to 0xQuit.

“Abstract is slated to shut down 12/15, so you have until then. LayerZero is also a dependency, so if they shut off before Abstract does, then that's the deadline. However they've stated they will continue to support until the 15th as well. Who will be the last to escape the coop?”

For more information on Abstract Chickens or to take part in one of the final NFT experiments on Abstract, check out the project's  OpenSea page here: https://opensea.io/collection/chikins

The Gazette will continue to follow Abstract Chickens and will let you know who ends up winning big and which birds get left with chicken shit! Stay tuned for updates!
