"DELEGACEPTION": Yuga Labs VP Of Blockchain 0xQuit Apes Into The Mind-Bending Layers Of Shadows

Bored Ape Yacht Club Members, this is not a dream! Things are anything but boring around the swamp this evening as BAYC members explore the existential world of Yuga Labs' ApeChain Shadows tech.

On Friday, Yuga Labs’ Vice President of Blockchain, 0xQuit, introduced everyone to the concept of “Delegaception” on ApeChain, blowing bored minds!

While Shadows have been live since ETHDenver last month, many BAYC members are still diving into this groundbreaking technology. Simply put, it allows your Ape to stay securely stored in a cold wallet on Ethereum while its “Shadow” is delegated to a hot wallet, enabling the Ape to claim rewards and interact with the ApeChain ecosystem and beyond!

 

After blowing everyone’s mind on February 27th, 0xQuit took on the role of Extractor again this eveing and guided frens through the mind-bending layers of Shadows delegation.

0xQuit revealed that delegated wallets with Ape Shadows assigned can also delegate those Shadows to another wallet, creating even more flexibility.

“Delegating your nft to a hot wallet with shadow rights will fully move the shadow nft to that hot wallet on apechain,” 0xQuit tweeted. “The hot wallet is now THE owner on apechain, but it can stay hot because the NFT is soulbound. It can't be stolen. Where it gets crazy: the hot wallet can now issue delegations on apechain, and protocols that respect delegations will recognize those, too.”

 

 

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Shadows are a game-changer for ApeChain and the Web3 space because they open up countless opportunities for holders across every ecosystem, putting their Apes everywhere, all at once.

“What does it mean to have your assets anywhere,” 0xQuit tweeted last month. “Projects can reward NFT communities completely onchain, regardless of what chain they launch on. New project founders don't have to fuss about which chain they launch on - they can be on all of them. And as a user, your UX improves as well. You can easily move your asset across chains, to any chain where Shadows are supported. This enables trading, NFTFi, and any other use cases that require full ERC721 functionality.”

Bored Ape and Mutant Ape holders’ Shadows are now live on ApeChain and can be found either in the wallet holding their Ape or in the wallet they have previously delegated their Ape to via Delegate XYZ, according to ApeChain’s Ngbshpend.

 

“Your shadow is already deployed,” he tweeted earlier this week. “If you aren’t using @delegatedotxyz then it’s already in the wallet that holds your MAYC. If you are delegated then the shadow is in the wallet with the most recent shadow NFT delegation sent too.”
