Some collections are purposeful and made with intention. Others just kind of happen. Apes by Accident is the latter, and it’s coming to ApeChain as a free mint next month.
On Tuesday, a new account with ties to a KID on Ape project dubbed Apes by Accident made its debut on X, announcing an upcoming free mint that was literally drawn out of boredom, never planned, and uploaded by mistake.
For the artist, Apes by Accident was inspired by the day to day monotony of life and the doodles he draws to pass the time.
“Those moments where your hand just starts drawing random things on paper without thinking. The art direction reflects exactly that feeling,” he explained. “It’s loose and unforced, like something drawn quickly while your mind is somewhere else. The goal was to keep it playful and open. Something that can easily turn into a meme, be remixed, or interpreted differently by everyone. Each ape leaves room for people to project their own stories, jokes, and Web3 degen energy onto it.”
Like the name suggests, Apes by Accident is exactly that, an accident.
So if you’re looking for a project with a detailed roadmap and long term promises, this probably isn’t your primate. Instead, the project plans to simply exist and see what happens from there.
“When it comes to plans or a roadmap, there isn’t one,” he said. “No big promises, no overengineering the future. The idea is to let the project unfold naturally and enjoy the ride together. Seeing these apes running around the Otherside, hell yeah, and turning them into merch, stickers, or fun physical pieces feels like a natural extension. Let’s see where it takes us.”
Tonight, the exact mint date for Apes by Accident has not been announced. However, the collection will consist of 3,333 pieces, and the team says there will be ample opportunities for everyone to get on the allowlist.
