From spinning tracks in clubs and bars to spending nine straight years working security at music festivals, Bored Ape Yacht Club member Pillow has spent much of his life following the beat, and now he’s bringing those vibes to the Otherside!

Music has been a part of Pillow’s life for as long as he can remember.

As a kid, he knew he wanted to do something in the industry, making his own beats on ACID Pro and passing them around at school. By his late teens and early twenties, Pillow was traveling across Scotland, spinning tracks at any club or bar that would have him. After that, he spent years touring with music festivals as a security guard and living the dream of anyone with a passion for music.

“I would work from 7am - 7pm then once my shift was over I would quickly run back and get changed and go out and enjoy the festival and all the acts, get up and do it all again the next day for months and months at a time on the road every single year, for 9 straight years,” he said. “It was amazing, Ive seen so many amazing acts and venues.”

After seeing how everything is done from the turnstiles to the turntables, Pillow knew he wanted to host events of his own. But not just anywhere. He wanted to do it on the Otherside.

“In November of last year when I was in the otherside I wanted to recreate the vibe, so I started hosting little events in the Belching Beast club on the Nexus,” he said.  “I started playing my own dance music I produced myself and people loved it, people would come, we would turn the game volume down, and all dance on the DJ Booth while I streamed it with the music on X.”

The events were a hit, and Pillow wanted to do even more. So he teamed up with metaverse builder Mike Thereum to bring his vision for a music festival to life on the Otherside.

“I came up with a blueprint on how I wanted it to look, taking inspiration of the festivals I had worked at and been to in real life,” he said. “Campsites, tents, campfires, Ferris Wheels, Big Stages, flashing lights, Trees and grass surrounding us we party in to the night, what a vibe! To take the real life experience and create it digitally.”

The pair hosted their first event earlier this month as an ode to the late, great Mac Miller.

The community support was unreal, so Pillow and Mike Thereum decided to do it again. Tomorrow at 7 P.M. EST, Chill Pill Fest returns to Otherside with an experience featuring the music of Blink-182, and anyone and everyone is invited to come through and experience what a music festival in the metaverse is all about!

“Ive created an experience that makes you feel like you’re at a real life festival but virtually, good music, good vibes, good times, everyone is welcome,” he said.

The Gazette will continue to follow Pillow as he works to bring music to the metaverse. Stay tuned for updates!
