From gas wars to a foot race! More than 500 Voyagers ran through Otherside today in hopes of finding one of the final Daniel Arsham Voyager allowlist spots, that could either be redeemed for a new Voyager Bot designed by the acclaimed contemporary artist or sold on the secondary market for well over a grand.

On Friday, Yuga Labs’ first-of-its-kind metaverse minting experience, which began earlier this week with an allowlist raffle and mint held entirely on Otherside, continued with a live scavenger hunt style event where 20 Daniel Arsham Voyager allowlist spots were awarded to the first 20 players who could find the collection’s secret minting location hidden somewhere across the metaverse.

The competition was fierce, with some players squadding up to search for the hidden books as a team while others went solo, relying purely on intuition and vibes to win the day.

All 20 allowlist spots were discovered within 30 minutes, hidden inside the Crystal Biome on Nexus inside t he Fortune’s Rise V challenge. The first book was found by longtime Bored Ape Yacht Club member SeanNana.

"I felt like I was in Ready Player One,” Nana told the Gazette. “The entire minting experience felt surreal and emotional. I was only half prepared for how intense it would feel in the moment. There couldn’t have been a better relic for this kind of experience than an Arsham Voyager. I’m a fan of Daniel Arsham and his work, and I wasn’t selected during the original mint, so this one was special to me. One of the most epic experiences I’ve had in Otherside yet.”

Whether players found a book like Nana or left Nexus empty handed, everyone walked away impressed by the experience and eager for more events like it in the future.

“Here it was! Right here,” Marcel tweeted after the event. “Looks like I was among the losers who came to check the quest, but didn't look for properly and left it pretty soon. The very best public mint experience web3 has ever had. Huge KUDOS to the whole  @OthersideMeta team, u r absolute beasts!

While another event like this hasn’t been officially announced yet, it seems increasingly likely that Otherside will host more scavenger hunt style mints in the future considering the overwhelming turnout and Yuga Labs’ plans to collaborate with more artists from outside the swamp on customized Voyager Bots as part of its Voyager initiative.

The Gazette is working to bring you additional coverage of today’s Otherside mint. Stay tuned for updates!
