FROM NFT SKEPTIC TO A BORED BELIEVER: Ed Went From Doubting NFTs To Owning Two BAYC Grails

From an NFT skeptic to a bored believer! One of the club's newest members changed his mind on NFTs after he began seeing them as art, and now he's got two grails in his collection.

Since 2023, Ed has been lurking around the swamp, watching the Bored Ape Yacht Club, its members, and the culture surrounding these monkeys, but he just couldn't bring himself to ape in.

“I honestly never thought I’d buy an NFT because I saw them as JPEGs that anyone could download for free,” he said.

But as Apes continued to build, meet up, and take over the timeline through both bull and bear markets, Ed finally realized NFTs were more than just pictures.

“Over time, my prospective changed. I started appreciating them as art,” he said. “Honestly, it’s the first time I’ve ever been interested in any form of art.”

In November 2025, Ed picked up his first primate and officially joined the BAYC. A month later, he added a second Ape to his collection, but something still didn't feel quite right.

“I dipped my toes into the NFT game by picking up some floor apes,” he said. “Felt nice to have them but it didn’t really cut it for me since I bought them randomly.”

Rather than settling, Ed sold both Apes. Not because he was leaving the club, but because he was searching for his forever Ape.

“After getting rid of them I thought to myself whenever the right ape for me comes along, I’ll get it,” he said.

Four Ape-less months later, that moment finally came. Ed purchased Bored Ape #4380 for 35 ETH, or approximately $55,500 USD.

“Will this be the beginning of a collection? Maybe,: he said after his purchase. “Will this be the only ape I own? Maybe. Will see how it goes. I don’t wanna force anything or come to any conclusions today. Time will tell. P.S. I’m a huge believer in $APE. HODL all day every day.”

As it turns out, time didn't take very long.

In the days since buying his trippy primate, Ed has already added a hip hop wearing Ape to his portfolio, proving that while he isn't forcing anything, he's still keeping a close eye on the club he's been following since 2023.

The Gazette will continue to follow Ed's journey around the swamp and will let you know what he does next. Stay tuned for updates!
