Ever since he was a kid, Bored Ape Yacht Club member Spooky has been a Pokémon fan, collecting cards, playing the games, and trying to catch ’em all. Sadly, he lost his entire collection years ago while moving from California to Texas. But recently, ApeChain gave him another chance to be the very best like no one ever was. And he’s already put together a top tier collection featuring a massive Charizard and a stack of vintage Dark cards.

Last month, Solana’s collectible capital markets platform Collector’s Crypt launched its ApeChain spin off, inviting $Ape holders to collect real Pokémon cards onchain. And Spooky knew he had to ape in.
"I’ve always been into Pokémon since I was a little kid,” Spooky said. “ So collecting in general has always been one of my hobbies. I love collecting shoes AND wearing them. I collect old Spider-Man comics daredevil comics, Horror movie Funko POPs of all kinds. I try to take advantage of every opportunity that the ape ecosystem provides. So when I saw that there was real RWAs as Graded Pokémon Slabs I had to try it out.”
Spooky loaded up his wallet with 1,200 $Ape to have some fun onchain and in just 20 to 50 spins, he hit one of his grails, a 2016 Charizard Holo, graded Gem Mint 10, valued between $500–$700 USD.

“It’s an insane dopamine hit to pull a card that is worth x10+ more than what you put in,” Spooky said.
After that win, Spooky upped his balance to 5,000 $Ape, planning to let it ride, rebuild the collection he lost as a kid, and chase his goal of becoming an ApeChain Pokémaster.
Tonight, Spooky sits third on the Slab ApeChain leaderboard, generating over $70,000 in onchain volume while assembling one of the strongest real life Pokémon Team Rocket Dark collections around the swamp that includes Dark Charizard, Dark Raichu, Dark Gyarados, and Dark Alakazam, with even more cards on the way.
Looking ahead, Spooky says he plans to keep spinning and collecting on Slab, with his sights set on his next grail, Dark Gengar.
