GAME ON: 10,000 Apes, Degens, And Normies Are In The Sewers Below The BAYC Competing In Dookey Dash Unclogged's Closed Beta Tournament!

Ten thousand Apes, Degens, and Normies donned their hazmat suits and descended into the sewers beneath the Bored Ape Yacht Club, embarking on a quest to uncover bugs and vie for a Mutant Ape in Yuga Labs’ Dookey Dash Unclogged Closed Beta Tournament!

The BAYC will be quieter than usual for the next 72 hours as numerous club members compete in the Dookey Dash, navigating the pipes day and night in hopes of winning an insane Mutant Ape or discovering a game bug and claiming a bounty!

Since the sewer's reopening this morning, Apes have been sharing videos from the depths, boasting high scores, and showcasing the game's character and vehicle customization options to their frens who weren't randomly selected to participate!

 

As Apes and normies alike began to flood social media with sewer shots, Yuga Labs’ CEO, Garga, thanked the  community for its eagerness to Dookey Dash and explained the company’s reasoning behind not token gating the event for Apes.

“Love seeing the enthusiasm for Dookey Dash Unclogged on the timeline, along with the fact that you all smashed d/l on the emails so fast that Apple rugged the testflight installs,” Garga tweeted. “Seeing some concerns re: shouldn't this have been token-gated to BAYC. Here's why we didn't do that: -DD was gated to BAYC to begin with, of course. DDU on the other hand is all about expanding the funnel and offering opportunities for apes and others as IP holders and creators. There are also token benefits for Apes in the game, 100%. But restricting access to this would be like tokenproofing people at Walmart to see if they can buy a Pudgy Plushie. -Token-gating this experience would have added time (even if not a TON of time) to getting people in and playtesting this. So q becomes: Do I want to delay a week to properly tokengate a 72 hour bug bash or do I want to get us to launch of the full experience a week sooner? -Need a broad swath of users from all over the world, and hopefully plenty of people who have never played DD at all, for beta testing/bug bounty to be relevant+useful Much love and see you ALL in the sewers soon.”

 

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Dookey Dash Unclogged is Yuga Labs’ attempt at getting the company and the BAYC into millions of peoples’ hands ‘in the dumbest way possible’ while also empowering members of the community, and creators outside it, to make and monetize their IP via User Generated Content.
