What’s in the box? Who cares, says Pudgy Penguin A Raving Ape!

Earlier this week, Pudgy Penguins mystery box buyers faced a choice: burn their boxes for a soulbound token or keep them intact and receive a mystery prize like a vinyl collectible, a piece of Igloo apparel, unreleased items, special 1/1s, or something else entirely.

Of the 7,000+ box buyers, nearly two thousand lit theirs ablaze, and no one smoked more cardboard than Pudgy Penguin A Raving Ape, who sent 53 of his 60 collectibles to the burn wallet in exchange for 53 “Box Burnooor” Soulbound Tokens.

“It felt like the best way at the moment to show support for the penguins,” he told the Gazette. “There’s been a few pudgy SBTs recently but most haven’t been hard to get. This one felt a little different since you had to purchase the box… and then decide to forfeit the contents. it definitely required a little blind trust but it’s not like the Pudgy team hasn’t proven themselves as worthy of that trust.”

Burning that many boxes required blind trust indeed. Tonight, we still don’t know what these SBTs will do, and Pudgy Penguins have given no hints yet.

But that isn’t stopping A Raving Ape from speculating.

“I think the easy/predictable play for pudgy team would be these SBTs receiving allo of $ABS whenever that launches but perhaps they throw some unique curveball,” he said. “Just spitballing an idea here but they could do a collab with DYLI on a claw machine where each SBT acts as a game credit.”

The Gazette will continue to follow these Box Burnooor SBTs, as well as the Pudgy Penguins mystery boxes, and will let you know what everyone gets as merch and collectibles start to fill the timeline. Stay tuned for updates!
