ApeCoin turned four years old today, and to celebrate, the ApeCoin team announced they’re rewarding holders who show up for $Ape on the Otherside with some coin.
“4 years of culture, powered by ApeCoin. This year we’re celebrating the moment in @OthersideMeta,” ApeCoin tweeted. “Use the APE emote in Otherside. Post your shot and tag ApeCoin. We’ll reward some of our favorites.”

As the Gazette previously reported, on this day four years ago, ApeCoin officially launched, and every Bored Ape and Mutant Ape holder was able to claim 10,094 $Ape and 2,042 $Ape, respectively.
Since that TGE, a lot has happened to $Ape.
The ApeCoin DAO was established, millions of dollars’ worth of ideas were funded, the SEC opened and later closed its investigation into ApeCoin and Yuga Labs, ApeChain launched, the first iteration of Otherside went live, and the DAO eventually shut down.
Today, a team of familiar faces led by former Yuga Labs lawyer Cameron Kates is steering the coin under a new entity dubbed ApeCo, with a mission to support high-quality builders and reinforce three core pillars: ApeChain, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and Otherside.
Oh ya, Yuga Labs’ Michael Figge also updated the logo, swapping the blue BAYC skull for a gorilla.
