"I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE": AllCityBAYC Assures $Apes He Won’t Leave ApeCoin, And That Working Groups Will Remain Open After AIP-466 Is Passed!
As the ApeCoin DAO looks poised to pass an Ape Improvement Proposal that would close its four Working Groups next week, Governance Working Group Steward AllCityBAYC took to the timeline to assure the community that he hopes to continue working with the DAO after this vote and laid out a course of action for the Working Groups going forward.
Things have been anything but boring around the DAO as Apes and $Apes focus on AIP-446, titled “Proposal to Close Non-Essential Working Groups,” authored by Derek Smart, AKA SmartApe, and Captain Trippy.
If passed, this AIP would close the Governance Working Group, the Marketing & Communications Working Group, the Metaverse Working Group, and the Web3 Development Working Group. It would also direct the Ape Foundation to hire third parties on an as-needed basis through the RFP process, modeled after the DAO’s AIP process, which was approved four months ago with the passing of AIP-401.
Since the proposal went live, $Apes have overwhelmingly supported the closure of the working groups. However, questions and concerns have arisen from the community, including what will happen to some ApeCoin DAO figures who have been building within this ecosystem and what the future holds for the DAO after this AIP is approved.
In light of this, Governance Working Group Steward AllCityBAYC posted his thoughts, agreeing that change at the DAO is needed and outlining his plans for the future.
AllCity began by informing $Apes that he’s working on some AIPs that would give him the ability to continue his work if that’s what voters want.
“I’m not going anywhere — but like in any election or Working Group budget campaign I’ve championed, I’ll be advocating for any future positions to you — the ApeCoin DAO community, he wrote. “I have no off-switch. And as a natural problem solver who is continually looking to improve processes on behalf of ApeCoin and drive growth for our culture and the overall effectiveness of the brand and ecosystem, I am currently [actively] involved in developing multiple high-impact AIPs that will enable me to continue serving the community where my strengths can continue being deployed in areas where the DAO needs me most. But again, ultimately, it will be up to you to decide whether or not to support these efforts, not just the APE Foundation or Special Council during the various stages of our standard AIP process, and beyond, to ensure continuous alignment is maintained.”
AllCity also clarified that AIP-466 will not immediately close the Working Groups or impact initiatives like Ape U or the Governance Working Group’s small grants program.
“It is also important to note that members of the Special Council and the APE Foundation have made it clear that they will not be looking to stop Working Group initiatives,” he wrote. “This should help ease the transition both functionally and optically. For example, programs like APE_U will continue independently unless you choose not to fund them once their current budgets are exhausted. The same applies to my small grant program and other initiatives developed by the GWG, which you can learn more about here: initiativeshub.apecoingwg.com. And while this doesn’t mean everything will continue unchanged, it does allow the Working Groups to determine what adjustments are needed in order to continue within new frameworks established through AIP-466.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, AIP-466 co-author Captain Trippy told the publication that AIP-466 will not immediately close any of the working groups if it passes, and that the Stewards will have the chance to continue operating until their budgets run out.
“That would be something to ask the Foundation, but this is how I understand it: any funds that have been agreed to and dispersed to the working groups will remain that way and the stewards will continue on and finish,” he said. “If they choose to stop or walk away, those funds should be returned to the DAO. There are no clawbacks in this proposal and so nobody is “getting fired”, the programs are just not continuing on after current funds are exhausted.”
Following AllCity’s post, $Apes and Apes thanked him for this post and said that they look forward to supporting him going forward.
Thank you for shining transparency on the context,” BlueEyeQueen wrote. “Your leadership and attitude are unmatched — and yes, you are not going anywhere, we stand behind you. We need you more than ever to keep the layers in motion.”
The window to vote on AIP-466 is currently open, and ApeCoin DAO contributors have until Wednesday, October 16th, to cast their votes on this AIP.
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow AIP-466 and will let you know how the community ultimately votes on this proposal next week. Stay tuned for updates!
