From the igloo to the San Diego Convention Center, Pudgy Penguins took over Comic-Con this weekend with Pengu, new products, and massive crowds. And after seeing the Huddle in action, VeeFriends founder Gary Vee decided it was time to add another fat, flightless bird to his collection!

For the fourth year in a row, Pudgy Penguins waddled into San Diego Comic-Con and peng-liferated their brand!

“Pengu captured the hearts and minds of everyone at San Diego Comic-Con,” the project tweeted. “We continued our mission of championing Web3 IP by bringing the brand to the masses at one of the world’s largest pop culture events. Seeing so much pent-up demand for Pengu is one of the clearest signs of how much the brand has grown over the past year. he line stretched around the block during all three days of SDCC. Every year we show up at Comic-Con, more people find their way into the Huddle.”

After seeing Pudgy Penguins' momentum at SDCC, Gary Vee decided it was time to add another Penguin to his top tier NFT collection.

“Pumped to see  @LucaNetz & team crush at #SDCC!!!!! had to pick up a nice one for my collection just now,” he tweeted. “its wild how much happiness i get from seeing others build along side to what i am building .. i really hope one day it is clear to everyone here that dozens of NFT projects can go MAINSTREAM and WIN and it doesnt stop other projects from winning !!!!!

Gary Vee's newest addition is Pudgy Penguin #6618, a five trait Penguin featuring an eyepatch, a headband, and a pink turtleneck sweater.

As the Gazette previously reported, Gary Vee has been making moves across the NFT space all year and has repeatedly compared the industry's current state to where brands like LEGO were before they leaned into intellectual property.

“NFTs are collectibles for the rest of everyone’s life in here, the end” Gary said on Spaces back on Janaury 4th. “And I think that NFTs right now are just in the same place that many collectibles have been. Stamps, coins, trading cards, toys, they’re in a lull. This is a good one to end on, LEGOs were almost out of business 25 years ago. Then they started to do Star Wars and realized, oh shit, IP matters and their company exploded. So let there be no confusion, things can cycle back…. This is where we are at .NFTs are forever, NFTs are forever, NFTs are forever. Now the question becomes for all of us in 26 and 27, which are going to be the ones.”

With this latest pickup, Gary Vee now owns two Pudgy Penguins, 62 CryptoPunks, six Bored Apes, six Mutant Apes, thousands of VeeFriends, and countless other NFTs.

The Gazette will continue to follow Gary Vee as he continues collecting and building across the NFT space. Stay tuned for updates!
