LAND OF THE RISING SWAMP: The BAYC's Fourth Anchor Collection With Japanese Designer Uchi Drops Tomorrow!

From the swamp to the Land of the Rising Sun!

Things will be anything but boring tomorrow when the Bored Ape Yacht Club's fourth Anchor collection, created in collaboration with Japanese designer Uchi, drops, blending vintage workwear with Japanese aesthetics and bringing a taste from Tokyo to the best club on the internet!

 

“This one goes to Tokyo,” the BAYC wrote in an X Article titled Anchor Drop 004. “Uchi is a Japanese designer who has spent years collecting vintage. Workwear, varsity, sailing, the stuff that gets better the longer you wear it. The starting point for this one was the yacht club itself. Burgees, crests, crew numbers, stenciled lettering, brass buttons, captain's caps. Uchi pulled those details into his own world, and it turns out the two have a lot in common.”

 

 

In total, tomorrow's Anchor drop will feature three pieces, an Oxford shirt, a work jacket and a cap. Each piece pays homage to Japan and the BAYC's yacht club roots, blending Uchi's love of vintage clothing with the club's nautical histroy.

“This collection was the first time BAYC, an American brand, collaborated with a Japanese creator/ So we brought in things like “Tokyo” and 81, Japan’s international calling code through prints and embroidery,” Uchi said. “ I’m really looking forward to seeing how BAYC fans around the world react to this collection.”

 

 

As the Gazette previously reported, this year's Anchor Drops are part of Yuga Labs CEO Michael Figge's broader mission to tell the BAYC's story through apparel and put the yacht club back into the Bored Ape Yacht Club!

 

“continuing to build out the Style pillar of bayc the next release in our anchor drop series features a collaboration with uchi,” Figge tweeted this week. “These limited release collabs aim at positioning bayc for bigger future moves p dope to see uchi's take on the club.”

 

The BAYC x Uchi Anchor collaboration will officially drop tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. ET. Like the Anchor Drops before it, these pieces will be limited edition and exclusively available to Apes!
