And then there were Apes, and Otherside.
Things were anything but boring around the swamp today as Yuga Labs announced that Moonbirds, Mythics, and Oddities are flying the nest so the company can refocus on its core: “Apes, Otherside, and something special.”

On Friday, Yuga Labs took to the timeline to reveal it had struck a deal with prolific NFT investor Spencer’s Orange Cap Games, which will take Moonbirds, Mythics, and Oddities on a new adventure, while keeping them Yugaverse-adjacent, with plans to bring the Birds to Otherside and make ApeChain their exclusive Layer 2 blockchain home.
After the deal was announced, Yuga Labs CEO Garga took to the timeline to congratulate the Orange Cap team and reiterated that this move aligns with his back-to-BAYCics strategy, which he’s been executing since stepping back in as CEO in February 2024.
“Moonbirds deserve a team whose whole world is the birds, and there's no one better than Orange Cap Games to help them reach their potential,” Garga said. “As for Yuga, we're laser-focused on Apes, Otherside, and something special we've been cooking up.”
While Garga didn’t specify what this “something special” is, it’s likely he's referring to Yuga Labs’ mysterious PP Man led project involving AI, a new character, and a reward for Apes and Voyagers, that’s been teased since early January 2025.
“The secret project is very exciting," Garga said on an episode of the VeraTheIntern Podcast at the time. “It’s something that we are super stoked about. It’s something that we think will reward for Apes and Otherdeed holders its own new thing. Its something that really tickled Wylie and I. It involves a character that we invited. It involved AI and a crypto product that we are excited about. And anyway, it should be fun!”

Since that initial comment, Garga has also revealed that this secret project will be “a bit different” and “comes with a twist,” during an interview with NFT Now’s Matt Medved on March 10th.

In light of the fact that the market conditions have chicken jockey clicker greatly improved since that publication, it is essential to point out that we may be receiving an update in the near future.
