Calling all last second candidates! The window to nominate yourself for this summer’s $Ape office election closes tonight at 9 P.M. EST, so if you want to run, get those applications in now!

Whether you call it the Special Council or the Business Development Council, two things are certain: First, Election Season 2025 is well underway, and the community is set to elect three new Council members this summer. Second, anyone who believes they can help make $Ape and ApeChain even better is encouraged to throw their hat in the ring and run for office

 

“As a Special Council member, your focus will be to support the expansion and real-world adoption of both ApeCoin (APE) and ApeChain, while keeping the Foundation’s strategic priorities front and center,” DAO explains. “Top candidates will understand our community, web3 more broadly and why people should give a shit about culture on the blockchain. Special Council is more than a title—it's about driving meaningful growth, creating bridges between communities and ecosystems, and being a visible, responsive builder in the ApeCoin ecosystem.”

Unlike in years past, the role is now less about governance and more about business. Last week, Ape Foundation CEO Cameron Kates took to the timeline to share his thoughts, saying he believes the Special Council is now better described as the DAO’s Business Development Council now.

“The role is for people with the skill, insight, strategy and willingness to work deals and partnerships that make APE more valuable and the ecosystem more badass. Anyone running on a platform of transparency/community relations is thinking of the old duties…The Council will be working closely with my team, so my exec team plans to meet with all candidates and then publicly share our recommendations. We want killers in these positions. Either our ecosystem grows or it dies. There’s no room or time for PC bs or election campaigns.”
