MEET THE CANDIDATE: 12Gauge Is Running For A Spot On The DAO's Discourse Facilitator Team
ApeCoin DAO Contributor and Discourse Facilitator nominee, 12Guage, hopes to bring his experience as an Ape Improvement Proposal author to the DAO's newly formed Discourse Facilitator team.
Election 2023 is heating up around the swamp as 14 ApeCoin DAO contributors threw their hats in the ring and announced their candidacies for ApeCoin DAO's Discourse Facilitator team earlier this month.
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the DAO approved of the creation of a three-person, community led, Discourse moderation team last month when it passed Ape Improvement Proposal-240.
This team will be responsible for “overseeing the proposal process, moderating discussions, enforcing rules, and promoting positive community engagement based on DAO-approved guidelines,” according to the DAO. Each Discourse team member will serve a three-month term and will earn $8,000 USD per month.
One of the candidates running for a spot on the Discourse moderation team is ApeCoin DAO Contributor 12Gauge.
"As a dedicated member of the community since its inception, my first hands on experience with the AIP process was as co-author of AIP-8, 12Gauge wrote on his ApeCoin DAO candidate page. “Although we were unable to get that AIP to snapshot, I have since authored approved AIPs-112, 145, and 212. I have a deep understanding of the AIP process and my experience as an AIP author has taught me the importance of empathy and communication. I am excited about the opportunity as Discourse Facilitator and the chance to continue to contribute to the rebuilding of our community."
To find out more about why this bored builder thinks they’re the right $Ape for the job, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to 12Gauge for an interview. Check it out below:
1.In a sentence or two why should the $Ape community vote for you?
“As a committed member of ApeCoin DAO, my journey as an author since AIP-8 has provided me a deep understanding of the DAO including potential risks to the foundation. Additionally, my experience with our previous administration has taught me the importance of timely communication and empathy.”
2.What made you want to run for Discourse Facilitator team?
“I understand the significance of a smooth, positive experience. My decision to run as a Discourse Facilitator is a commitment to providing and improving that experience for our community and future AIP authors.”
3. What sets you apart from the other nominees?
“What sets me apart from the other nominees is my experience with the AIP process. I have written 6 AIPs, and understand many of the risks to the Foundation.”
4.What do you hope to accomplish during your term?
“During my term as Discourse Facilitator my goal is to minimize the time an AIP spends between the Idea stage and when it appears on Snapshot. I believe this is the most important metric as it reduces author frustration and increases AIP frequency and adoption.”
5. How did you get into Web3 and NFTs?
“Same as everyone else, TopShot.”
6. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?
“Participating in elections is a new adventure for me and the support has been very humbling. Big thank you to all the voters who have shown their trust in me.”
