ApeCoin DAO contributor Airvey’s journey into the world of cryptocurrency began with a Bitcoin transfer to his mother, which eventually led him to a career in the Web3 space with Horizen Labs, where he helped Yuga Labs create the ApeCoin DAO. Now, he’s running for a spot on the ApeCoin DAO’s Special Council, where he hopes to help establish ApeChain and make it the premier Web3 gaming destination!
The winter election season of 2023 is underway at the ApeCoin DAO, with five contributors running to replace BoredApeG, Gerry, and VeraTheApe on the DAO's Special Council in 2024.
Among the candidates vying for a position on the ApeCoin DAO's Special Council is Airvey!
“As a Sr. Advisor at Horizen Labs during the creation of ApeCoin DAO alongside the founders of BAYC and Yuga Labs, I possess an intimate understanding of this ecosystem,” he wrote on his candidate page. “Today, I sense that new challenges have arisen with the creation of ApeChain. I aim to leverage my experience in building EVM chains (Horizen EON), my insights gained as the Special Council of the Horizen DAO (after spending 18 months at the Foundation level), and my role as an advisor for the next token of Animoca Brands to ensure that ApeCoin DAO maximizes its chances of success.”

1. In a sentence or two, why should the community elect you to be its next Special Council member?
“I had the opportunity to be an advisor at Horizen Labs when they created ApeCoin in collaboration with the founders of Yuga Labs. In the past two years, I gained experience at the ZEN Foundation and currently serve on the Special Council at the Horizen DAO. I now feel equipped to be operational from day one in this role.”
2. When and why did you decide to ape into the Special Council race?
“The decision came as a natural extension of my commitment to blockchain innovation. When I saw the potential of Ape Coin to revolutionize digital asset utility and community engagement, I knew my experience could significantly contribute to this exciting journey.”
3. What community or ecosystem in crypto do you like (besides apes/ $Ape) and what do those communities have that ApeCoin is missing right now? And how do you plan to bring what they have to the DAO?
“Yuga Labs has publicly declared the importance of gaming, at Horizen Labs we initiated a thorough exploration of the best options for developing ApeChain. After careful consideration, we determined that Arbitrum was the most suitable choice to enhance the utility of ApeCoin. You can find all the information on AIP-378, which I co-authored.”
4. Are there any AIPs or projects that you’d focus on during your time on the Special Council?
“I aim to establish ApeChain as the premier Web3 gaming destination. With Arbitrum we are currently in discussions with several top-tier gaming projects.”
5. Why do you want to be on the Special Council?
“I want to assist in onboarding the community on ApeChain. With my experience in both the Foundation and as a Special Council, I feel equipped to apply best practices.”
6. How do you plan to onboard more people into the $Ape ecosystem over the next year?
“With AIP-378, in addition I aim to assist the DAO in generating revenue.”
7. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?
“There was a lot of criticism regarding Horizen Labs' suggestion to distribute 10,094 unclaimed tokens to BAYC and 2,042 MAYC holders, but I'm pleased that it contributed to building a strong community.”
