From the early days of writing on the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s pixelated bathroom wall to ApeFest 2023, Bored Sad Fez Ape has seen a lot around the swamp. Now, he wants to help push the ApeCoin DAO forward into the metaverse while also remembering the importance of real-life communication!
The winter election season of 2023 is underway at the ApeCoin DAO, with 12 contributors officially running to be the community’s first two metaverse working Group Stewards.
Among the candidates vying for this position is Bored Sad Fez Ape.
“I’m excited to bring my international and diverse business experience and passion for the crypto, NFTs and metaverse world to the APE DAO, particularly to help expand $APE’s presence in the metaverse,” he wrote on his candidate page. “My background in leading diverse teams and understanding global markets aligns perfectly with $APE’s mission, and I’m eager to contribute to shaping the future of $APE.”

In a sentence or two why are you running for this position?
“Since May 1st, 2021, I've been diving deep into the vibrant world of Web3 through BAYC #963, (aka Bored Sad Fez Ape) witnessing our incredible journey from humble pixels on the bathroom wall to ApeFest in Hong Kong and the amazing journey in between. I'm here to support our leap into the Otherside, bringing along my 20+ years as a senior executive to the table. I believe with my heavy exposure to Web3 and strong business background I am uniquely positioned to benefit the DAO and the WG in our Metaverse mandate.”
What is the metaverse? How do you define it? What is the purpose of a Metaverse Working Group? What would you like to accomplish in this role?
“The metaverse, in my eyes, is everything beyond the bounds of IRL – it's our digital playground, and we're already living in it! The future? It's about bringing a sense of ownership into these virtual realms, making them not just fun but fantastically ours. I see Otherside as the next big leap, the Google of metaverses, if you will. As a steward for the Metaverse Working Group, I'm all about championing this new platform, spreading the word, and making sure the metaverse is not just a concept, but a lived, loved, and owned reality, just like what we had with BAYC in the last two years."
Why are you the right person for the job? How has your past experiences prepared you for this?
“In the past two years, I've been a whirlwind of activity in various Web3 experiments, as detailed in my forum post. From inspiring friends to join the Web3 world to actively engaging in community discussions, my journey has been all about making connections and sparking change. My goal? To leverage my experience, skills, and network to help the Working Group soar, aligning with the objectives of AIP 245.”
What kind of budget do you plan to ask the community for and how do you plan to get it passed?
“Before diving into budget talks, I'm all about collaboration and community input. I'll be reaching out to fellow WG Stewards and the broader DAO community, stirring up conversations and brainstorming sessions for project ideas. I'll bring our budget proposals to the community, backed by clear, impactful initiatives. It's all about transparency, collaboration.”
What does success look like for this Working Group and where do you hope to see this group a year from now?
“It's seeing a flurry of high-impact initiatives taking flight, fully supporting the launch of Otherside and spreading the word far and wide. A year from now, I envision our Working Group as a powerhouse of innovation and collaboration, a key player in the metaverse narrative.”
Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?
"I'm a firm believer in the magic of face-to-face collaboration. If elected, I'm excited to host a vibrant meeting for our Working Group in Istanbul, my home turf. The window to vote in the ApeCoin DAO's first round of Metaverse Working Group voting opens on November 30th, and $Ape holders will have until December 6th. to cast their coins in support their preferred nominees. After the first round of voting, the top five nominees with the most votes will proceed to the second round of voting and officially become ApeCoin DAO Metaverse Working Group candidates. The DAO will then conduct one more election from December 7th through December 13th. During this second vote, the community will officially elect first two Metaverse Working Group Stewards!
