MEET THE CANDIDATE: Shotgun.Tobi Is Running For Marketing And Communications Working Group Steward!
This project manager turned full-time Web3 professional has been expanding the metaverse in Manila while managing everything from finances to social media for the ApeCoin DAO-funded project, Boring Security. Now, Shotgun.Tobi wants to ape into the DAO’s new Marketing and Communications Working Group Steward role, push $Ape forward, and be an inclusive voice for women and Asians in the community!
The winter election season of 2023 is underway at the ApeCoin DAO, with six contributors running to be the community’s first two Marketing and Communications working Group Stewards. Among the candidates vying for this position is Shotgun.Tobi.
“I’m nominating myself for Steward of the Marketing & Communications Working Group because I’m confident that my unique blend of skills and experiences can significantly contribute to ApeCoin DAO,” she wrote on her candidate page. “Firstly, I believe the DAO needs more representation across the world, and having more female voices among the Stewards, and representation from Southeast Asia and other developing regions is important. Currently, many calls and events happen while Asia is asleep, but Asia definitely has a thriving crypto market that we want to have a strong presence in. Second, I’m one to learn quickly, work well, and get the job done. I’m passionate, driven, and eager to contribute! DAOs are a relatively new organization model so being agile and reliable are key skills necessary in driving the DAO forward. Third and lastly, I’ve always been very community centric, and I want to ensure that in this DAO, all voices are heard. I work well with colleagues, and community alike, and I genuinely want to listen not only to the big fish, but to fish of all sizes, colors, and shapes in the DAO as well. Should I get elected as MarComms WG Steward, my mission is to enable ApeCoin DAO to become a community of stakeholders that are equipped with the support, structure, and resources to elevate the brand of ApeCoin globally. The most harmonious way and exact steps will be something I and my co-elected Steward will determine, together with the input of the Community once elected. In addition, there’s so much ApeCoin has achieved over the past 18 months and these wins need to be published for a greater audience. This, together with a stronger presence across IRL Web3 (and maybe even Web2) events, conferences, and activities are priorities I’d like for the MarComms WG to drive and achieve. I know I’m ready to level up my contributions to the DAO, and that this is the right avenue for it.”

1. In a sentence or two why are you running for this position?
“I want ApeCoin to get the attention & spotlight it deserves, and I feel my experience and skillset make me the right gal to get that done.”
2. What does Marketing and Comms mean to you?
“Marketing & Comms means finding ways to keep holders as informed and involved as possible, and building up ApeCoin’s brand such that non-holders will want to be a part of us.”
3. What ideas or initiatives would you like to implement at the DAO?
“- To improve the ways DAO processes are being communicated outwards towards holders, including ensuring inclusivity towards non-english speakers
- To drive the creation of more content online — articles, YouTube videos, even TikTok videos
- To setup a system or task force that will enable members across the world to represent ApeCoin DAO in different global events.”
4.Why are you the right person for the job? How has your past experiences prepared you for this?
“I have cross-functional project management experience in Web 2. My background is in industrial engineering, while I always loved staying involves in creatives and graphic designs. I’ve been in Web3 for the past 2 years. For the past year, I’ve been handling operations, special projects of ApeCoin DAO funded project: Boring Security.”
5. What kind of budget do you plan to ask the community for and how do you plan to get it passed?
“That is to be determined once the team is assembled, and we combine our visions for MarComms. I plan to research the history of the DAO to better understand what the DAO is for, is often against, and really just wants. If the budget proposal is reasonable, with a clear set of expected outputs, and it aligns to what the research and feedback I get, I believe it should pass.”
6. What does success look like for this Working Group and where do you hope to see this group a year from now?
“Success looks like proud ApeCoin holders that know what’s going in the DAO, or aren’t intimidated to get involved; Googling ‘ApeCoin’ and seeing content about project powered by Apecoin rather than just price and tokenomics; and an established marketing infrastructure that will be able to support Marketing AIPs in order to capitalize on the global distribution of DAO members. A year from now, I see the MarComms Working Group focusing on growth and innovation. For 2024, the priority is to build and establish the brand of ApeCoin, and to set-up the necessary infrastructure for how marketing processes within the DAO will work.”
7. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?
“Please do provide me feedback for any plans—positive or negative, any form of feedback is encouraged! My DMs are open, and so is the Discourse forum.”
