ON THE BALLOT: The ApeCoin DAO Is Voting On Whether Or Not It Wants An ApeChain
The ApeCoin DAO is heading to the polls this week for a quick temperature on whether the community wants an ApeChain.
Following a month-long Request For Proposal process, during which the ApeCoin DAO's Administrator, Webslinger, invited the crypto world to share their ideas for an ApeChain with the $Ape community, ApeCoin DAO Contributors are casting their votes in a yes-or-no ballot that will determine whether the DAO moves forward with an ApeChain.
“This vote is to decide whether or not to proceed with the results of the proposal titled “ApeChain: Selection of proponent to build ApeChain 18”, which aims to select a proponent to build ApeChain, a dedicated ApeCoin blockchain that scales $APE and supports the growth of the ApeCoin ecosystem,” Webslinger wrote.
If the DAO votes in favor of this proposal, $Apes will participate in another vote titled 'ApeChain: Selection of the Proponent to Build ApeChain.' During this poll, they will choose between Polygon Labs, the Hoirzen Labs and Arbitrum team, the A-Team and the Optimism group, or zkSync to build the ApeChain.
“ApeChain has the potential to really kickstart the growth of the ApeCoin ecosystem, “Special Council Member Waabam told the Gazette. “There are a ton of key infrastructure and public goods required to build out a blockchain, and this will require significant development and growth in the ecosystem. This will then be followed by a wave of new ApeCoin-powered games and experiences. These are very exciting proposals for the DAO, and the choice between them is in my view, the most significant decision the ApeCoin DAO has ever had to make. Whichever team wins will become a close partner of the ApeCoin DAO for years to come. So the stakes are very high. So read the proposals, read community commentary, attend community spaces, and get out and vote!”
The window to vote on whether the ApeCoin DAO should have an ApeChain is currently open and $Apes have until Wednesday, February 7th, at 9 P.M. EST to cast their coins for or against.
