ON THE BALLOT: This AIP Aims To Create A .Ape Naming Service For The $Ape Community
Get ready to ape into a new Ape themed naming service; there is an Ape Improvement Proposal on the ballot this week that is trying to make .Ape the go to domain around the swamp!
AIP-224 titled Ape Protocol Extension (.Ape domains),” is an ecosystem allocation fund proposal written by ApeCoin DAO Contributor Evil.
“Not everyone can afford to get their hands on BAYC/MAYC and other NFTs that revolves around ApeCoin nor they can show the their support towards the $ape other than hodl," Evil explained. “A name extension dedicated towards the ecosystem solves that, followed by the endless ways the community can use their name extension to create sub-domains and other opportunities that awaits.”
Evil went on to say that the creation and use of a .Ape domain would make all ApeCoin DAO contributors, big or small, feel welcomed in the community.
“Naming extensions give an exclusive sense of belonging without the use of PFPs as well and are undoubting fully used by a wide variety of audiences,” Evil wrote.
In order to make .Ape a reality, Evil is asking the ApeCoin DAO to allocate 67,900 $Ape or $231,000 USD to create this Ape naming service with the help of SolidityIo.
25,000 $Ape will be used on Infrastructure, 24,600 $Ape will be used for Maintenance and Deployment, and 18,300 $Ape will be used for community management, according to Evil's proposal.
Here’s the AIP's timeline below:
The window to vote on AIP-224 opens tonight at 9 P.M. EST and ApeCoin Dao contributors will have until Wednesday May 24th to cast their coins.
