POWERED BY $APE: Yuga Labs CEO Garga Confirms Otherside Will Launch With ApeChain Integrations This June!

Powered by $Ape isn’t just a saying, it’s a promise. The Otherside metaverse will be powered by $Ape and run on ApeChain from day one, according to Yuga Labs CEO Garga.

Things were anything but boring late last week when Garga joined the Otherside Discord to chat with Voyagers about the company’s first iteration of an always on Otherside, set to open sometime next month.

“Team is crushing it, but like with any big project, the last 10% is always a fucking beast to strangle into submission and polish,” he said. “As I've been saying though, summer release is just Part 1, focused around Nexus, persistent state, mini-games and social experiences along with ODK experiences. Winter release is when Otherdeeds come alive.”

Along with reminding everyone that June’s launch is only the beginning of the metaverse, Garga confirmed that even this early version of Otherside will be powered by $Ape.

“Yes, day 1 integration,” he said.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Garga first announced in January that the first iteration of Otherside would open this summer. Since then, he’s given the community a better idea of what to expect when it launches and what running on ApeChain will look like during Phase 1.

“Excited for Otherside's next milestone: the always-on, persistent world,” Garga tweeted in February. “This won't be our only major release this year, but it's a big milestone, and one we're targeting for June... We'll have our always-on social hub, with achievements, trading, tipping and transacting all on ApeChain. Features like Bubbles, Poker, and the Kodacam, as well as a range of ODK experiences, from Bathroom Blitz to smaller games and features, that we've been methodically building out with a variety of different partners and community builders. And at the center of it all is Nexus, the ancestral home of the Kodas.”

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow Otherside’s release and will let you know more about how the metaverse runs on ApeChain as more details become available. Stay tuned for updates!
