Did you get the bag, Ape?

On Tuesday, Yuga Labs made its first limited edition Bored Ape Yacht Club sling bag available to the community for free, and everyone aped in!
“Every Detail Considered,” the club tweeted. “Collectors Collect. The BAYC Collectible Bag is now available to claim at https://store.bayc.com”
These sling style crossbody bags are anything but boring, sporting a matte black finish, a gold Ape skull emblem near the bottom, and a zipper pull emblazoned with the phrase “COLLECTORS COLLECT.”
Inside, the bags are lined with “BAYC” spellouts and logos and feature a stitched “COLLECTORS COLLECT” label marking the piece as a limited-edition work made for the best club on the internet!
While we do not know how many bags were made available, we do know that they were all claimed within minutes, leaving the primates who secured one pumped!
But with the bags gone so soon, some primates were left ape-athetic on the timeline.
“I’m so tired of this,” longtime BAYC member and HouseOG founder Guccheetah tweeted. “Free bag for apes only utility in years have bag in cart at 5:00pm out of stock such bs.”
While today’s drop left some Apes empty handed, fear not. The club said yesterday that this bag is just “the first of many things” it is making for members.
As the Gazette previously reported, apparel and fashion have been a point of emphasis for Michael Figge since he stepped in as Yuga Labs CEO back in April.
Over the last four months, BAYC has worked with artists and designers like King Saladeen and Sean Wotherspoon as part of a broader push to put the “Yacht Club” back into the Bored Ape Yacht Club through more intentional design, aesthetics, and storytelling.

“We’ve also been thinking about what it actually means to be a Yacht Club - not just the name, but the feeling behind it,” the BAYC tweeted in April. “That’s starting to take shape. From here on out, you’ll see it show up more clearly in our apparel, our collaborations, and an aesthetic that finally does the Yacht Club name justice.”
The Gazette will continue to follow BAYC’s renewed focus on apparel and member exclusive collectibles and will let you know what the club has planned next. Stay tuned for updates!
