Q&A: Find Out More About AIP-104 “Bringing Web3 to Educators& Schools”
This week at the ApeCoin DAO the community is voting on whether to fund an Ape Improvement Proposal that aims to educate educators on Web3.
AIP-104 titled “Bringing Web3 to Educators& Schools” is an Ecosystem fund allocation proposal written by Bored Ape Yacht Club member TheTechRabbi.
In his proposal, TheTechRabbi explained that the best way to expand Web3 is to get the next generation involved.
“The Ape Community’s mission to elevate cultural expression through web3 is currently limited to those who are already immersed in it,” TheTechRabbi wrote. “There is no better way to exponentiate this mission than bringing that very web3 ethos into classrooms to support student upskilling in web3. Blockchain is providing a slew of innovative opportunities for evolving education and the relevancy of student learning to the workforce. Our DAO events bring educators, who have no experience with this, into the fold in a practical and knowledgeable way so that they can create multiplicative opportunities for students.”
In total, TheTechRabbi is asking the ApeCoin community for $84,951 USD worth of $Ape to host, fund or sponsor various educational events over the next six months.
To find out more about AIP-104, the Bored Ape Gazette interviewed TheTechRabbi and asked him questions about his plan to educate educators.
1. Tell me a bit about you, how’d you get into crypto?
“In 2017 I dove into buying Bitcoin, Ethereum and tons of altcoins. I was excited at the potential impact that blockchain could have on society and token ownership helping this innovation scale with benefit. Unfortunately, most of those altcoins went to zero but I was and am still incredibly bullshit on the future of blockchain.”
2. How’d you get into teaching about web3?
“I have been working in education and edtech for the past 14 years. Any bleeding edge tech I discover I am already trying to discover connections for teachers and students. Web3 for me isn’t just the future, it’s an opportunity to help upskill students in ways education largely ignored with web2 tech.”
3. Why are you the right person to lead this education proposal?
“I have an extensive background in education, training, curriculum development, and event planning. The good news is that I have an incredible community in the Ed3DAO ecosystem working together on these initiatives so it isn’t about me, it’s about the impact we can all make together.”
4. How are you going to connect with teachers and educators?
“Our community is full of connected educators who even before web3 were conference speakers, trainers, and thought leaders in edtech and education. We are already gearing up to partner with school districts, professional development service providers, and after school organizations.”
5. Can you tell me a bit more about the resources you’re going to make?
“This ApeCoin AIP is focused on our ed3 unconference in the ed3 metaverse. We have curated an amazing roster of web3 degens and educators to share their stories, workshop with attendees, and continue to build web3 communities. The ApeCoin grant will help us fund this program and other educational events over the next year. “
6. How can $Ape holders get involved with you and your proposal?
“The first way is by voting on the proposal and partnering with us in reimagining education. All BAYC and MAYC hodlers get access to all Ed3 DAO events for 2022 and 2023. We are also looking to the greater Ape community to collaborate, partner, and discover ways that we can support students and educators in being active contributors to the web3 ecosystem.”
7. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
“I just want to share how grateful I am to the web3 community. After over a decade in the tech and startup ecosystems I can say without question that the web3 community is one of the most passionate groups I have been connected to and they truly care about the future of education.”
