Real life always comes first, and sometimes tough choices have to be made when it comes to collecting. Last year, avid NFT collector Kaleeb was getting married and needed extra cash, forcing him to make the difficult decision to sell his favorite Pudgy Penguin, who is, objectively, very handsome.

“I had to sell him due to needing some money for my marriage and wedding at the time and was trying to play it safe so I made the tough choice to sell it,” Kaleeb said. “it felt pretty sad because I thought he would be a forever pudgy and was also my PFP for a few months.”

The wedding was well worth it, because like penguins, Kaleeb gained a lifelong partner, but he still found himself checking in on his old fren.

“I have had my eye on him ever since I sold it and would occasionally put offers in in hopes of a sale,” he said. “but it never got listed.”

But then a huddle miracle happened.

Fellow Penguin TritonWarmer acquired Kaleeb’s former Pudgy on Blur, and the two worked out a deal that sent the dapper bird back to his forever huddle.

“I messaged him and we struck a deal just above floor,” Kaleeb said. “I’m very excited to get him back.”

To Kaleeb, Pudgy Penguin #1361 carries serious sentimental value. The number ties back to his longtime username from his days playing RuneScape.

“I love him for many reasons, the aesthetics are beautiful but also because of the ID #.. I use to play a game called RuneScape and that was a part of my username in the game so it kind of just became my number over the years.”

Looking ahead, Kaleeb is thrilled to be holding his favorite Penguin again, along with a Bored Ape and several other NFTs he’s collected over the years as the market begins to pick back up.

“It feels amazing to be a part of the BAYC and also the huddle,” Kaleeb said. “NFTs are gonna take over and it’s great to see BAYC leading the charge. The bayc community has been amazing. I now know why they call it the best club on earth So right now I’m repping a bored ape and I absolutely love my new ape.. but pudgy penguins were the reason I got into NFTs to begin with.”

The Gazette will continue to follow all things NFTs from the huddle to the swamp. Stay tuned for updates!
